Our 3bd/2ba home is located in the sleepy little coastal community of Shelter Cove, California just on the ocean side of the famous California Redwoods. The interior is simply but beautifully decorated in ocean motif, boasts vaulted exposed wood beam ceilings throughout, huge windows with ocean views, gourmet kitchen, quality linens, 2 living rooms each with Satellite HD LCD TVs, outdoor spa, and all other comforts you would expect in a great ocean home.

Shelter Cove & the "Lost Coast", where the King Range meets the Pacific Ocean, located just below Cape Mendocino (the westernmost point of California), is the jewel of Humboldt County. Unlike other towns along the California coast, Shelter Cove is not accessible directly off the main "Pacific Coast Hwy" SR 1, thus it has never become overdeveloped and remains one of the few pristine coastal areas left in California. Because the King Range mountains begin (or end) here at Shelter Cove, a short drive up the development will yield 180' views of the California Coast @ 2500ft above sea level, yet our house is down the hill & located within walking distance to everything (including the beaches, tide pools, golfing, restaurants, etc.). Permanent residents of Shelter Cove are mostly retired but there are also families and vacationers- we've had our house 15 years and have NEVER come across a grumpy person in the Cove.
There are 3 restaurants, a brewery, a coffee shop and a deli in town, but my kitchen is equipped with everything you need to cook the most gourmet of meals. The most popular activities in Shelter Cove include fishing (Charter Service available), surfing, golfing, crabbing (fresh crab for sale Dec-?), the BEST abalone diving in the world (World Records here), whale watching & hiking. It is a must to have a car for the trip because you are within short driving distance to quaint towns and shops, the California Redwoods, wine country (Sonoma & Napa), San Francisco & other northern California secret spots.
