NO GP Exchanges & NOT interested in swaps in NYC
** We will consider simultaneous reciprocal exchanges only! We will not use the Guest Points program. Thank you! **
Our home is open, bright, and private; and it has extraordinary, ever-changing views of the Hudson River and Catskill mountains from every window. Our home is furnished with a colorful combination of vintage and new furniture with lots of artwork, plants, and books.
The first floor has an open plan kitchen/dining/living area with a wood burning stove. There is also a separate room with a large couch, TV, games, etc. The first floor also includes a laundry/coat room and a bathroom with shower. Just outside is a porch and patio area.
The second floor has 3 bedrooms and a bathroom with a deep, luxurious tub. The primary bedroom has a large double or 'queen' bed and a sit/stand desk that overlooks the river. The 2nd bedroom has a single 'trundle bed' which can open up to accommodate 2 people (one in each single-sized bed). The 3rd bedroom has a daybed that transforms to a double or 'queen' sized bed (can accommodate 2 adults).
In summer, you will want to be outside! Our porch/patio has several places to relax and enjoy the view, dine outside or just watch the world go by. The large garden has lots of space for picnics, playing, or relaxing in the hammock or tree swing. There are lovely perennial gardens with flowers in spring, summer, and fall. Our garden also includes the ruins of a former church! There is also a gas grill for outdoor cooking. Come watch the sunset over the river and enjoy this magical place!
If you are traveling with kids, we have games, puzzles, children's books, and toys to play with; we also have a fold-up baby cot and highchair if you would like to use them. Many families who have exchanged with us have spent time in NYC and then visited our area to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The train to/from NYC is a 3 minute walk from our house.
Note: our home has cats!!

Ce que vous allez adorer dans le quartier
Our home is in Rhinecliff - a charming, walkable, and picturesque group of homes from the 1800s nestled along the banks of the Hudson River. Rhinecliff is recognized as part of the US National Historic Register and is part of Rhinebeck, a quintessential American town with a mix of rural charm and cosmopolitan flair.
Our house is a short walk to a wonderful and friendly library, an old-fashioned post office, a small corner grocery store, and a bistro restaurant with indoor dining, a bar, and a patio for outdoor dining.
The Hudson River Valley has captivated writers and artists and been a popular spot for recreation and enjoyment of nature for centuries. Years ago, wealthy Americans built estates along the Hudson River as a quiet refuge from New York City. The Hudson Valley continues to be a haven for creative people who are inspired by the access to nature, the abundant food and art culture, and the easy access to NYC. The area has a lively and vibrant cultural life of its own, and it is also a popular weekend destination for visitors, weddings, etc.
The Amtrak train station with regular service to NYC is a 3 minute walk from our house (the trip to midtown Manhattan is ~90 minutes).
Within a 5 minute WALK you will find:
* access to the Hudson River and the train to NYC
* a charming local library with art exhibits, music, etc
* a corner grocery store with local food and specialities (plus our very own Radio Rhinecliff in back)
* a bistro/restaurant with a bar
* a variety of styles of vernacular American architecture on winding streets that are perfect for a stroll
Within a 5-10 minute DRIVE you will find:

* yoga and pilates studios, tennis courts, a gym, and multiple spas
* many walking trails, one with an epic views from the top of a fire tower
* a large public park with tennis and pickleball courts, softball and soccer fields, and walking trails
* a 40+ year-old independent movie theatre
* a large grocery store
* Bard College, with gorgeous grounds, renowned architecture and exciting cultural activities year-round
* a large hospital and a walk-in clinic for emergencies
Within 15-45 minute drive, you will find:
* many historic estates that are open to the public - Wilderstein, Montgomery Place, Olana, Clermont, etc.
* many walking paths, some among the grounds of former estates, all free and open to the public

Le mot de la fin
***This is our primary home - we are NOT interested in short-term weekend exchanges nor the Guest Points program!***
Wi-fi is available throughout the house and outside. We have a TV with Netflix, HBO, etc. One of our cars (a VW wagon) plus our 2 adult bikes can be included in the swap. If you require them, we may be able to borrow carseats for small children.
We have a regular house-cleaner and can arrange for cleaning during a swap (or not). Our house is on the river with all day breezes and stays cool in summer - for days when you need it, we have air conditioning. We have low maintenance, older 3 cats - ideally any exchange would involve caring for them.
We have completed exchanges with families from France (3x), Amsterdam, Stockholm, and NYC. We love this way of traveling!
