Our home has the feeling of a country getaway yet it is located in the interesting historic town of Concord, Massachusetts near to Boston and Cambridge. The house is surrounded by trees and privacy with a balcony/deck overlooking a large forest with many hiking trails. There is a backyard with room for relaxing.
The house itself is a large, sunny, comfortable, open-layout contemporary home built in 1972. The main floor includes a living room area with sliding doors for going out onto the deck and cathedral ceilings with skylights. There is also a dining room, kitchen, and family room with a television, piano, and stereo. Upstairs there are three bedrooms and an office. The master bedroom suite includes a changing room and a large bathroom with a walk-in shower area and a bathtub with whirlpool.
In the basement, there is a large work, play, and living area, including a ping-pong table and a futon bed..

Our immediate neighborhood has unique features and attractions. There is a beautiful small swimming lake with a sandy beach area open only to the residents of the 70 homes in the neighborhood. This means that the beach is never crowded, yet there is opportunity to meet and talk with the other friendly families in the neighborhood. There are also tennis courts for the families in the neighborhood. The neighborhood is quiet and a great place for taking walks.
Because of the interesting history of our town, Concord, there are many tourist attractions. The Minuteman National Historic Park commemorates the Battle of Lexington and Concord, the first battle of the US Revolutionary War. Several famous American authors, including Louisa May Alcott, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and Nathaniel Hawthorne lived in the town and their houses are open for visiting. Walden Pond, where Henry David Thoreau wrote his book Walden, is also here. The village of Concord features stores and restaurants, and is a pleasant place to visit. Our house is 3 miles from the center of the village.
To get to Cambridge (17 miles from our house) and Boston (23 miles from our house), there is train service from the center of Concord. Often the most convenient way to get to Boston is to drive to the subway (25 minutes; 13 miles from our house). The subway leaves every 5-10 minutes.
Beyond Boston, there are many other attractions in driving distance of our house, including the beaches and fishing communities of the North Shore and the mountains of New Hampshire.
