Ce que vous allez adorer dans ce logement
Our house is a large (170 m2) semi-detached family home, with green "grass and flowers" gardens in front as well as at the back of the house. Sun all day long (provided the weather is sunny of course). The street in front of the house is very quiet, The only traffic will be one of the neighbours cars. In the front garden there is a trampoline.
We think our house is very comfortable and cosy. In the living room there is a fire place, here you will also find the TV, stereo (plenty of cd's), DVD and the piano. Internet acces is wifi, and works throughout the house. Next to the livingroom is a modern kitchen, toilet and washing machine + dryer.
On the first floor there are two bedrooms; the master bedroom which is quite large, with a king-size double bed, and a children's bedroom. Also the bathroom, with a shower en bathtub, is located on this floor.
On the second floor you will find a large children's bedroom and a much smaller guest room..

Ce que vous allez adorer dans le quartier
Monnickendam is a historical town, dating from the middle ages. The town centre is very pretty, a typically Dutch seaside fishing harbour (although the sea is now a lake ofcourse). In Monnickendam you will find several shops and supermarkets, a choice of restaurants and cafe's. Monnickendam is located in the "Waterland" area. The name speaks for itself. Green meadowland, with the typical black and white cows is bordered by numerous lakes and canals, an area of outstanding natural beauty. The area is accessible on foot or by bycicle, or by canoe or environment-friendly electrical "whisperboat"..
However, that is nothing compared to nearby Amsterdam. The centre of Amsterdam can be reached by public transport in less than 30 minutes. Buses go very frequently; at least twice per hour, and during rush hour up to six per hour. Buses continue until well after midnight, even on a weekday. Remember that parking in Amsterdam is expensive!
Apart from Amsterdam there are many other places of interest to visit in the immediate surroundings of Monnickendam. The beautiful island of Marken (now connected to the mainland by a dike) is only a few kilometres away. A more typically Dutch landscape will be hard to find. The historical towns of Edam and Hoorn are (among many other towns and villages) nearby. You may consider a bycicle-ride to the large polders the Purmer and the Beemster (two times Unesco world heritage monument). A 45 minute drive will bring you to the North Sea coast with its sandy beaches.

Le mot de la fin
Just 20 min. from Amsterdam city centre, yet in the quiet of the countryside
Great child friendly swimming just over the dyke (100 metres)
Nice garden, lots of bicycles, great public transport to and from Amsterdam.
