Ce que vous allez adorer dans ce logement

Our house (located in a quiet street) is a 3-storey Victorian town-house in 10-minute walking distance of the centre of Cardiff.

The house has two lounge rooms (large TV, DVD) and a large kitchen/diner.

There are 4/5 spacious bedrooms, one with a kingsize bed, two with doubles, one with a single bed and a cot bed and the office with a double futon. A baby high chair and travel cot are available if need be. There is also an additional single mattress. There is one bathroom which has just been refurbished with bath and walk-in shower and there are two separate toilets.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a full-height larder fridge, an under-counter freezer, a dishwasher, a cooker and a microwave. The washing machine is in a utility room to the rear.

There is a garden at the back with table and chairs where it is possible to have a BBQ. One adult bike, two children bikes. The office has a computer and internet access.

Car exchange is negotiable (Renault Gran Scenic).

Ce que vous allez adorer dans le quartier

Cardiff has all the benefits of being a capital city without being big, remote, congested and time-consuming to get around. Mostly, one can walk. Cardiff is expanding as a cultural and artistic centre. Famous for its rugby, there are also lots of galleries, museums and arts/music venues.

Our house is located in Pontcanna, a renowned conservation area in Cardiff. Pontcanna has a thriving group of local shops, cafes and restaurants. Our house is very close to almost everything:
- the main Cardiff shopping centre,
- two multi-screen cinemas
- the central railway and bus stations
- Cardiff Castle,
- an enormous city-centre park and arboretum
- the Chapter arts centre with cinema, theatre, gallery and cafe-bar
- the Millennium Stadium
- the National Museum of Wales
- Cardiff Bay

The city-centre park is in fact three parks Bute park, Sophia gardens and Pontcanna field. Bute park along the western bank of the Taff is a grade-1 listed for its heritage value.

Cardiff Castle is an extraordinary mixture of Roman fortress, Norman castle and Victorian fantasy, each built one on top of the other.

National Museum of Wales is free to visit. The Cardiff museum has exhibits of art, archeology, natural history and geology. Our favourites are the "natural history of wales" exhibit and the surprisingly extensive collection of French Impressionist art. The National Museum also operates in other sites, including the Museum of Welsh life in St Fagans on the outskirts of Cardiff, which is well worth a visit.

- Cardiff Bay (30 min walk from our home) – a regenerated area of Cardiff with numerous waterside restaurants, the Millennium Centre (Opera hourse), the Welsh Assembly building and a motor boat and sailing club. For kids, Techniquest, hands on science / technology museum is a great attraction. Also, do not miss a splash in Cardiff International pool (swimming and leisure). A new ice-rink is being built and there is a white water facility for the most adventurous!

Cardiff has a Summer Festival with an extensive schedule of arts/music and cultural events.

A short drive away are :
- the beautiful Brecon Beacons national park
- the Gower peninsular
- many cliff-backed beaches in the area (Rest Bay, Southerndown)
- Norman castles (Castell Coch, Caerphilly, Raglan, Chepstow) or Roman remains (Caerleon, 30 minute-drive) has a Roman bathing complex, fort and amphitheatre).

Cardiff is located only 2 hours from London (accessible by train, bus or car) and 1 hour from Bristol and Bath.

NB: we will leave a file with our favorite places to eat & maps and guides to all local attractions.

How to get to Cardiff?
- Cardiff airport
- Bristol airport, very convenient and lots of connections
- London airports + train to Cardiff
