Ce que vous allez adorer dans ce logement
Having completed a 1,500 square foot, 4-level addition in 2001, our home sits on a corner,1-acre lot within walking distance of our historic town center of Chester Borough. Our house features a barn which has been converted into a three-car garage as well as tall Maples and Pines which shade the property and provide for lazy afternoons on our hammock. We enjoy an enclosed front porch, a rear deck with furniture and barbecue gas grill, a white-picket-fence enclosure in our back yard, and a fire pit with Adirondack chairs which we use to roast hot dogs and make s'mores during summer evenings. We also have a garage with balls and bikes and a kickback soccer goal in our yard behind the barn.
Inside our home, the eat-in-kitchen has new, stainless steel appliances, and granite countertops. Our open layout "Great Room" connects to the kitchen area and has a floor-to-ceiling, raised brick fireplace as well as French doors that lead to the western edge of our property. Our dining room has bay windows and connect through another set of French doors into our den which contains a built-in bookcase, electric reclining sofas, and a large, flatscreen entertainment center. In our front hallway sits our piano and computer station, and our back hallway houses our pantry area, new washer and dryer laundry room, and renovated, first-floor half bathroom. There are also front and rear coat closets.
On the second floor, the Master Bedroom has a king bed, flatscreen television, two walk-in closets, a sitting area with bookcases, and a large Master Bathroom with cathedral ceiling, skylight, glass-door shower, dual sinks, and large jacuzzi bathtub. The two other bedrooms on the second floor each contain two beds and sit next to a full bathroom and library/study room.
Finally, we have two walk-down basements (1 for storage and 1 finished with television, Xbox game system, and exercise equipment) and two walk-up attics (1 for storage and 1 finished with two bedrooms that each have a dormer window). The house has 3-zone central air and heating.
We know you will love our home as much as we do--it blends old character with modern comforts.

Ce que vous allez adorer dans le quartier
We live on a quiet, residential street within walking distance of downtown Chester. There is a feeling of privacy as houses in our neighborhood sit on larger lots and is very family friendly with children in the vicinity.
Chester is an upscale though historic farming community that is within short driving distance to major area attractions. For instance, the famous Jersey shore beaches are 45 minutes to the south, the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania are 45 minutes to the west, downtown Manhattan is an hour by train or car to the east, and America's most historically-significant city of Philadelphia is a mere 75 miles to our south. Within a four hour drive is everything from Washinton, DC and Baltimore to Atlantic City and Boston. It would be hard to find a more centrally located yet beautifully situated locale in the New York metropolitan area.
Chester itself sits on the border of bucolic Somerset and Morris Counties in the "horse country" section of north-central New Jersey. In fact, these two counties recently ranked as the 8th and 9th wealthiest out of the 3,077 counties in the United States. The area has been home to many famous personalities including King Hassan II of Morocco, Jackie Kennedy, Mike Tyson, and Whitney Houston.
Chester was first settled in 1640 and was incorporated in 1799. Happily, it retains much of its colonial character. George Washington's Headquarters during part of the Revolutionary War is preserved nearby in Morristown, NJ. The historical charm of Chester can be felt not only among the friendly families here but also in the Victorian and Colonial architecture, the many county and state parks, as well as the local village antique shops, country furnishing boutiques, coffee houses, restaurants, local theater, and ice cream parlors which line Main Street.
More modern and convenient attractions may also be found in Chester. Specifically, the town has become an area shopping destination since the development of a high-line commercial retail complex with stores like Banana Republic, Gap, and Ann Taylor. Add to this the local malls, golf courses, country clubs, as well as the weekly events sponsored in Chester like the Farmer's Market, 4th of July celebration, 4-H Fair, and country craft festival and you can see why Chester has become a very desirable residential location.
So whether you like outdoor activities like fishing, swimming, and hiking (check out our Hacklebarney nature preserve with its trails, waterfalls, and enormous boulders) or if you prefer a more cultured experience like museums, theaters, and restaurants (you must visit Morristown down the road which is a hip, upscale, and fun pedestrin mini-metropolis), Chester is ideally situated for those who want it all.
