Ce que vous allez adorer dans ce logement
Explore Oaxaca, a UNESCO World Heritage site, by stepping out of the door of our centrally located home. Casa Naranja (the orange house) is only available between June to mid October. It is located 7 blocks from Santo Domingo Church and the vibrant pedestrian-only street, Alcala, where every night people from all over the world stroll through the beautiful Spanish colonial setting. Another 5 blocks and you are in the zocalo where you can enjoy food, music, street vendors, people watching and daily festivities. During your stay plan on visiting the many restaurants, art galleries, museums, theatres, pre-Columbian ruins and interesting small villages surrounding this state capital. Our home is comfortably furnished with excellent mattresses, a fully equipped kitchen, TV, WIFI. Both bathrooms have showers with plenty of hot water. It is only 1.5 blocks to the local market for fresh fruits and vegetables and laundry services nearby where they do it all for you. We can recommend a nearby Spanish school if you'd like to study the language while you are here. Weekly maid service available. Casa Naranja is a very secure home located in the Centro Historico. Oaxaca is situated at one mile above sea level, the house is on five levels with many stairs and is not suitable for young children or people with mobility issues. One of us is allergic to cats so we can't swap with you if you have a cat. Exchanges of 7 days or more only please.
Ce que vous allez adorer dans le quartier
Start your day with an invigorating hike up the nearby hill, Cerro Del Fortin, a natural oasis in the urban setting, which gives you a great view of the city. You'll hear doves cooing, enjoy bird watching and meet friendly Oaxaquenos. Afterwards, stop in the nearby Mercado Sanchez Pascuas for freshly squeezed orange juice and pan dulce for breakfast. Take a tour to Monte Alban to view the sacred site of the Olmec-Mixtec-Zapotec cultures. Our home is located on a dead end street with little traffic but is SO close to everything that you want to see - ethnobotanical gardens, contemporary art museums, historic sites, churches and colonial architecture. Enjoy world famous local cuisine, take a cooking class, study spanish, or just appreciate the cafe culture in the zocalo. Our friendly neighbours will greet you with a hearty "buenos dias" and our housecleaner and her family will be available to help you with any problems or questions that arise during your stay. This is a great place for people who love to walk and walk and walk. There are tours to the nearby mountain villages (elevations 10,000 ft. above sea level) where you can hike or mountain bike in the pine forests and visit ecotourism sites.
Le mot de la fin
No more Exchanges available in 2025 - dates in 2026 June to October only.
No Exchanges less than 7 days - sorry. No groups of more than 4 people. There is a severe water
shortage in Oaxaca so guests are asked to conserve water by limiting showers and conserving
water as much as possible.
Oaxaca is a mile above sea level so allow a day or two to get used to the
high elevation.
Our dog lives here when we are here so the house would not be suitable for anyone allergic to dogs.
The house has MANY stairs on five levels and is not suitable for young children or people with mobility issues.
The house is VERY close to the Centro Historico de Oaxaca
There is a great Mexican mercado 1.5 blocks away
Plenty of excellent restaurants in our area.
We ask that our home exchange partners leave $500 pesos for
every two guests that stay in our home. This is for the
house cleaner and laundry service after you leave.
