Ce que vous allez adorer dans ce logement
If you are looking for the most fancy style from some of the hottest magazines and state of the art kitchen machines, this is nothing for you. But if you would appreciate a quite small house built 1915, not too far from the centre of a university city with 250000 inhabitants, on the highest spot in the neighborhood, with 3,0 meter high ceiling in the living room, hand blown window glass, egg-oil tempera on walls and floors upstairs, old stone walls in the garden, old but beautiful laundry house, wild flowers, a view all the way to Uppsala city and a quiet and nice neighborhood, this is your place.
We bought this house 2010 and fell immediately in love. The light is just so beautiful here! Originally the house was built to serve as a organ factory, but was changed into a domestic house in the 40ths. In the beginning the property was five times bigger and is now divided into five smaller plots with newer houses; our neighbours. In one of the plots archeological findings were excavated, and the archeologists are sure that there are even more under our house, since this is the highest spot (for the interested digger, we dig a lot, have not yet found anything though).
The same family have owned this house for almost 100 years, 1915-2006. Maybe that is why they have left so much of the original, the windows, the panel, which is unusual in this region and which we appreciate a lot. Some of our friends just sigh when they see all the work that is needed and some just get sparkles in their eyes and say "lovely!". Many of them agree that this is a very suitable house for us... Do not worry, there is both warm water and electricity. And on the 2nd floor which we have completely restored, there is new sanitary, down lights, towel heater, washing machine and tumble dryer in the bath room. The outside panel is scraped and painted, in the traditional Swedish red Falu-color of course and the windows are bright green in linseed oil color. The furnitures on the terrace are original church benches and between the highest trees is a swing for children and on the backside there is a hammock for the tired adult.
On the ground floor (partly restored and extended 2023):
a toilet
a hallway with space for clothes
a kitchen with stove, refrigerator, freezer, micro, hot water boiler
a living room 3,05 in height, wooden panel in the ceiling, a piano, stereo with LP player, a wood burning stove
a receintly built bay window area with 2,6 m in height
a loft over the living room with low ceiling, two beds and a wonderful view over the rooftops, reached by a ladder
a bedroom with one bed, space for an extra bed
direct access from the living room to a balcony with access to the garden
On the 2nd floor (restored 2011):
a hallway/office with a desktop computer and printer
a spacious bathroom, with bath tube with shower, separate shower, towel dryer, washing machine, tumble dryer and big balcony
a very light spacious master bed room with a double bed and beautiful views to the south ( "Domkyrkan and Slottet") and the west (Gamla Uppsala church)

Ce que vous allez adorer dans le quartier
Our house is situated in Uppsala, the 4th biggest city in Sweden with about 200 000 inhabitants. The city has very good connections to Stockholm (app. 40 min. by train) and Arlanda, the airport.
Our region is called Gamla Uppsala, in archeological retrospect a very interesting place to be. This ancient part of Uppsala has formerly been a little city of its own, which could could have attributed to a certain mentality here, and a feeling that people know each other.
Lately there has been a generation shift and from old people living here all their life there have come lots of young families with children. Since Uppsala is growing fast this has also become "closer" and is now considered to be quite central, no wonder the house prices have risen a lot. The closeness to both bathing possibilities and adorable protected surroundings, the Uppsala mounds as well as the centre (15 minutes with bike) is very attractive. This area is so nice because in the south there are lots of houses, a couple of restaurants, a museum, and in the north just free land, valleys and farms. So if you are fond of biking, running or just walking enjoying some beautiful countryside, this is the place for you. For kids there are different playgrounds , app. 5 minutes walk from our house.
Five minutes bicycling from our house is the river Fyrisån where you can swim, barbecue and relax.
Lake Mälaren is not far and those interested in boats and lots of spacious water will certainly enjoy taking a look.
For children:
Turbo indoor sport center, 10 minutes biking away, if you love to climb, make parcour and jump in trampolines, price about 16 Euro (2018). Free for accompanying adults.

Fyrishov adventure swimming hall, both indoor and outdoor, 15 minutes biking away. Swimming pool with adventure part for children, price about 10 Euro (2018). Discount for families.
