Ours is an exquisite small house located minutes from Taos plaza with an outstanding view of Taos Mountain to the north and Picuris Peak to the south. It is set in the midst of an orchard and hay fields at the end of a small dirt road. It is extremely quiet and peaceful, yet all the restaurants, museums, and galleries of Taos are minutes away. There is a large courtyard with a perennial garden, a sage garden with a fountain, a playground area (for our grandchildren!) with a play gym and play house, and many beautiful seating areas. There are two bedrooms and two baths in the main house and a separate sleeping casita with a spectacular view of Taos mountain. The kitchen has granite countertops and new appliances. There is a hot tub off the master bedroom perfect for viewing the brilliant night sky. We are minutes from fabulous hiking in Kit Carson National Forest and 35 minutes from the fabulous Taos Ski Valley. This is a second home so we have some flexibility around the timing of an exchange.

Taos is an area rich in history with a unique combination of Hispanic, native American, and Anglo cultures. Taos' artist community has been in full flower for over a century. There are a number of excellent small museums in Taos, the Harwood Museum (with a superb collection of world renowned Taos artists' pieces), the Millicent Rogers Museum (which has a very good collection of Indian pottery and rugs), the Blumenschien House, Fechin House, Kit Carson Museum, and Martinez Hacienda. All of these show a different aspect of the art and history of the area. The Taos Pueblo is one of the few Unesco World Heritage sites in the United States and throughout the year presents festivals and ceremonies that are open to the public. Geographically, the area is breathtaking with high snow capped mountains, the Rio Grande Gorge (the only rift valley in the United States), and immediate proximity to Kit Carson National Forest and a myriad of hiking trails and fishing streams.
