Ce que vous allez adorer dans ce logement
Wir wohnen in einem kleinen, gemütlichen Holzhaus in Schwanheim, im Westen der Stadt Frankfurt am Main. Es liegt in einer ruhigen Seitenstraße im Herzen des historischen Ortskerns. Eine offene Küche, ein gemütliches Wohnzimmer mit einem Kaminofen sowie Zugang zur windgeschützten Terrasse, Gäste-WC und Vorratsraum befinden sich im Erdgeschoss. Im Obergeschoss findet man das Bad, ein Schlaf- und ein Kinderzimmer. Insgesamt gibt es 85 m² zu entdecken :-). Die kleine "Villa" ist ausgestattet mit einer schönen neuwertigen Küche, W-Lan, TV sowie einem Grill auf der Terrasse, der das Grillen auch im Winter ermöglicht. Smartie, unser Hamster, hat eine eigene Villa in unserem Wohnzimmer... Wald, Wiesen und Main sind nicht weit und laden ein, dem hektischen Großstadtleben entspannt zu entfliehen. Und keine Angst: Obwohl der Flughafen so nah ist, fliegt kein Flieger über unser Schwanheim... In fußläufiger Entfernung (ca. 15 Minuten) liegt am Main unser 500 qm großes Gartengrundstück, mit Gemüsebeet, Trampolin und Schäferwagen!
Das Stadtzentrum ist per Rad von Schwanheim sowie mit der Straßenbahn gut zu erreichen. Neben dem Großstadtfeeling mit Skyline gibt es eine Menge beschaulicher und geschichtsträchtiger Sehenswürdigkeiten - Museen, Paulskirche, Dom und das schöne Mainufer wollen besucht werden, selbstverständlich inklusive Apfelweinkneipen und vorzüglichen Restaurants, in denen hessische Gastfreundschaft gelebt wird. Internationale Küche gibt es obendrauf.
Mit Kindern unterwegs? Kein Problem: Frankfurt hat ein Kindermuseum, zahlreiche Spielplätze, es gibt Kindertheater, das tolle Senckenbergmuesum oder kindergeeignete Events und Festivals im Sommer.
Aber auch in der weiteren Umgebung gibt es einiges zu entdecken: Sehenswerte Städte wie Wiesbaden, Darmstadt oder Mainz können bequem in einer halben Stunde mit dem Auto erreicht werden. Taunus und Odenwald liegen praktisch vor der Haustüre und bieten sich für Ausflüge in die Natur und für Wanderungen an. Auch ein Tagesausflug in den Rheingau oder in den Spessart ist möglich.

Our home is a nice little family house in the western part of Frankfurt, idyllically situated in the old part of the village centre of Frankfurt-Schwanheim. It is a detached wooden house which is located in a small quiet street ("traffic calmed zone").
The house has an open plan kitchen, a cosy living room with chimney downstairs, two bedrooms and a bathroom are upstairs. On the ground floor you can also find a pantry room as well as a guest toilet. There is a direct entry from the living room to the wind-protected terrace for enyoing und relaxing the warmth of the sun espacially in spring or autumn. BBQ-facility is available. The living space is about 85 m².
To make your stay as pleasant as possible we offer you the use of the television and a laptop with internet connection (free WiFi overall in the house).
Frankfurt offers you a wide range of cultural attractions, the only and most impressing skyline in Germany and a lot of green and relaxing places. Near to the skyscrapers you can find cosy Hesse pubs and restaurants. At the heart of the bustling city centre you can find historical sights again and again. For example, the Kaiserdom (Cathedral) and the Paulskirche, the cradle of German democracy, are also to be found here. There is a wide selection of museums and galleries. You can reach the city centre by tram, car or bike within 30 minutes.
If you travel with children, Frankfurt provides a large choice of child-friendly attractions, e.g. the Kindermuseum (special exhibitions and workshops for children), the Senckenbergmuseum (watching dinosaur skeletons and special guided tours) or many playgrounds in the parks or the nearby forrest. Special theatre plays for children of all ages can be visited in different places in the city.
For shoppers, Frankfurt is a real ‘el dorado’ with its many shopping streets and centres.
Frankfurt and the Rhine Main area, located centrally in the middle of Germany, is ideally situated to explore a lot of different places, cities and nature in the surrounding area. Destinations which you can easily reach by car or by train are:
*** the lovely cities of Wiesbaden, Mainz and Darmstadt (half an hour's drive), where a rich historical and cultural heritage can be explored;
*** forests & nature: Taunus and Odenwald (half an hour`s drive), for enjoying nature and for hiking;
*** wine areas: Rheinhessen, Rheingau, Bergstraße (half an hour`s drive), for tasting excellent wines and enjoying the picturesque countryside;
*** more forests & nature & wine: the areas Rhoen, Spessart, Pfalz (one hour`s drive) complete the comprehensive range of what is on offer.
Daytrips to the famous Upper Middle Rhine Valley (UNESCO world heritage) are as well possible as excursions to remains of Roman settlements in the nearby region Wetterau (Limes).

Frankfurt-Schwanheim liegt ca. 8 km westlich vom Stadtzentrum, eingebettet zwischen Wald und Wiesen im Süden und dem Main im Norden. Unser Haus liegt im alten Ortskern. Verschiedene Einkaufsmöglichkeiten (Supermarkt, Drogerie, Bäckerei etc.) befinden sich in fußläufiger Entfernung. Verschiedene Restaurants, Kneipen und Imbisse sind gut erreichbar. Ein nahe gelegener großer Waldspielplatz sowie ein kleiner Zoo sind die Attraktionen für Kinder. Und ein Spaziergang am gerade mal 300 Meter entfernten Main geht sowieso, zu jeder Tages- und Nachtzeit...
Es gibt verschiedene Fuß- und Radwege in der Umgebung: Am Main, an der Nidda, im Frankfurter Stadtwald oder im Naturschutzgebiet Schwanheimer Düne. Der Stadtteil Höchst mit seinem Schloss und seiner historischen Altstadt ist ebenfalls bequem erreichbar.
Für Ausflüge ins Stadtzentrum bietet sich das Fahrrad an. In 30 Minuten radelt man zur Paulskirche. Wir haben zwei Fahrräder (für Erwachsene) und ein Kinderfahrrad. Mit dem Auto schafft man es in 15 Minuten, allein die Parkplatzsuche ist aussichtslos :-). Mit Bus & Bahn ist man ca. eine halbe bis dreiviertel Stunde unterwegs.

Frankfurt-Schwanheim is located aprox. 8 km from the city centre of Frankfurt, between the municipal forest with gnarled oaks and open meadows to the south and the river Main to the north. Our house is located in the district centre. You can reach different shopping facilities (supermarket, chemist`s, bakery etc.) only 5 minutes walk. Further highlights in the direct neighborhood are
- different typical Hesse restaurants (1-5 minutes walk)
- a big playground in the forest (15 minutes walk)
- a small zoo (15 minutes walk)
- the river Main (5 minutes walk)
There are different cycle paths and foot paths in the surrounding area, along the River Main, in the nearby forest or in the nature reserve Schwanheimer Dune. A walk to the historic centre of the district Hoechst is also advisable.
Although the International Airport Frankfurt Rhein Main is situated in a distance of only 5 km there is no aviation noise in Frankfurt-Schwanheim!!
For day-trips to Frankfurt city you can easily go by tram or bus (ca. 30 min.) or by bicycle along the river Main (ca. 30 min.). We have two bikes for adults and one children´s bike.
