Our home is a beautiful 3000 ft2 contemporary house in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, well situated between Denver and many destination ski areas and fabulous hiking/fishing/camping. The house is at 8300 ft elevation and has distant views up and down our valley. Evergreen, a charming town and tourist destination, is a 10 minute drive away and offers restaurants, excellent shopping, microbreweries, art galleries, winery, art center, lake with ice skating/boating, lots of hiking trails, a local ski area, theater and music. And if that isn't enough, Denver is only a 45 minute drive away, 5 destination ski areas are within a 90 minute drive, and fabulous high mountain hiking can be reached in less than 45 minutes!
The house is on 3 levels, hence we call it our "treehouse" as it looks out over the treetops at distant views. The top level is a great room (living room, dining room, kitchen, 1/2 bathroom) with a cathedral ceiling and floor-to-ceiling windows in 3 directions which makes it a wonderful place to watch the snow falling in the winter, and the birds, wildlife and wildflowers in the summer. As this is Colorado, snowy or rainy days are almost always followed by brilliant sunshine and gorgeous deep blue skies. A perfect location for skiers from December to April, and summer outdoor enthusiasts from June through October.
In addition to the top level with the great room, the house also has two other levels with 2 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, 2 offices, and a family room with futon and TV. There are decks with views on all 3 levels.
This location is ideal for those who enjoy winter sports including downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, backcountry skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, ice skating and winter hiking. In the summer, there are many hiking trails nearby, as well as unlimited hiking, fishing and camping opportunities in the high mountains. Driving a 4WD vehicle high into the mountains on the many mining/backcountry roads during the summer is a wonderful way to start hikes at over 10,000 ft elevation!

Our house is just west of Evergreen Colorado, a very special community in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. In our neighborhood you will find friendly people, as well as lots of elk, deer, foxes and birds. Evergreen has a lake for ice skating, excellent shopping, a number of restaurants, microbreweries, arts center, two recreation centers, music, theater and plenty of other things to do! And if that isn't enough, Denver is only a 45 minute drive away, 5 destination ski areas are within a 90 minute drive, and fabulous high mountain hiking can be reached in less than 45 minutes!
