Ce que vous allez adorer dans ce logement
Our historic home offers modern comforts with the beauty of 1886 architecture. Six, two-meter high south-facing, original wooden windows bathe our space with light all day long.
We reside on the fourth floor (no elevator but a wide, manageable staircase offering daily exercise) of a quintessential Berliner 'altbau' with 3.30 meter ceilings adorned with original stucco details on the ceiling of our main room.
We get light from sunrise to sunset in our loggia (like a balcony with windows) where it is a pleasure to relax; a perfect spot to decompress after a day of exploring our dynamic city.
Our home was originally two apartments, it offers two spacious, adjoined rooms for living and dining in addition to a modern well-equipped kitchen with an island that provides plenty of workspace and area to congregate. All three main rooms are joined by 2.5m original double doors offering an effortless flow to the space.
We have three cozy (yet very narrow) sleeping rooms with 180x200, 80x200 (possible to extend to 160x200), and a 70X120. We have comfortable 140x200 or 90x200 air mattresses that can be used as well. I list the apartment as two sleeping rooms even though there are technically three (a small one for a child).
We have two bathrooms. One was recently remodeled in a cheerful shade of pink with floor heating and an Italian (walk-in) shower. The other is smaller and in need of a remodel but it is tidy and functional.
Our home is well-insulated. It stays cool throughout the summer with our lovely cross breeze and our insulated windows and doors keep us warm and cozy in the winter. When the temperatures rise in the summer, we have fans you can use.
For those home office days, there is a String shelf that converts into a spacious work area (we can provide a monitor upon request). Of course, we have a strong internet connection. And you will notice from our photos we have two dining tables that can also function as workspace.
If you have children, we have several playgrounds within a couple hundred meters. Plus impressive museums (for children and adults) within walking distance. At home, we have a vast collection of wooden toys, books (mostly English & German), a learning tower, a balance board, and Tripp Trapp high chairs. However, please take into account that we have white walls, antique furniture, and our home is not entirely child-proof (some closets and shelves are not secured to the walls and our children know only to eat at the dining table or in the kitchen) so it may not be appropriate for all children.
If you do NOT have children, we can put most of our children’s items in storage for your stay to create more of an adult atmosphere. If just adults are staying here, we usually use one of the children’s room to store these items.
Due to our central location in this bustling city, we can’t promise absolute silence. That said, up on our floor it is easy to forget about the city below and we have double insulated windows. We have a close-knit relationship with the majority of our neighbors so more often than not the building stays peaceful.
There is free street parking within 50m of our home. Since you can’t specify whether your parking is private, I want to clarify that. It can sometimes be difficult to find a spot depending on when you arrive. That said, we do not have a car and there is no reason to drive in Berlin as it is much faster to get around by bike or public transportation like we do.

Ce que vous allez adorer dans le quartier
Most importantly, our home is in the center of Berlin in a much sought-after neighborhood that is family friendly while still being edgy enough to feel like you are in the capital city. We are in the center of the Berlin ring in the Kreuzberg district bordering Mitte (city center), and Schöneberg,
Our apartment is located on a tree-lined boulevard with generous sidewalks and gorgeous light. It is a protected area of the city due to its livability, location and percentage of original structures with Bergmann Straße a couple of blocks away with its boutiques and countless restaurants. The famous streets: Kurfürsten Damm, Friedrich Straße, Potsdamer Straße and Potsdamer Platz (Tiergarten & Brandenburg Gate) are reachable in about 15 minutes with public transportation. You can walk to Potsdamer Platz in about 25 minutes (mostly through a park) or to Checkpoint Charlie in a little less time.
Our area has it all from expansive parks and sidewalk cafes and beer gardens to historic sights and farmers markets as well as being within walking distance to some of the best museums in the city. Such as the Neue Nationalgalerie, Gemäldegalerie, Jewish Museum, Berlinische Galerie, König Galerie, German Museum of Technology, and Anoha children’s museum.
Did you know Berlin is one of the greenest (trees!) cities in Europe? Our neighborhood is an exceptional example of this. We are nestled in between two huge parks steps away from our door. On one side, the historic Viktoria Park claiming Berlin's only waterfall & a panoramic view of the city with dense tree-lined paths. On the other side, a State park called Gleisdreieck, a former train yard that was abandoned after WW2 and recently converted into an urban wonderland with running trails, outdoor cafes, countless playgrounds, BRLO craft brewery/beer garden, Jules cafe/beer garden, and the German Museum of Technology. Not much farther from our place, you will find Tiergarten (Berlin's version of Central Park), Tempelhofer Feld (former airport field turned park with runways and all), the famed Landwehr Canal, and much more! The city is surrounded by forests and lakes (many accessible by public transportation) if you want to get out in to nature for a swim or hike. We highly recommend a day at Wannsee or Schlachtensee lakes or take the bus near our place to the Grunewald forest and maybe even a hike out to a Cold War spy station turned street art gallery?
While there is plenty to see and do within walking distance of our home, we are well-connected to the city's comprehensive public transportation and within a few stops, you can reach most of Berlin's essential tourist destinations. With 175 museums and ample green space, it’s a huge, exciting city with endless fun to be had for the young and young-at-heart.
Our location is great for "living like a local" or for those who want the proper tourist experience. Berlin is excellent for both tracks. We are happy to help you plan your visit and share our ever-evolving city guide with you! We do our best to keep up with the latest gastronomic trends and art happenings that we can share with you. We tend to tailor our recommendations based on our guest's interests so please let us know how you would like to spend your time in Berlin.
We look forward to hearing from you!
