Ce que vous allez adorer dans le quartier
Barletta boasts a huge historical heritage: Swabian Castle and Santa Maria Maggiore Cathedral, completed under Emperor Federico 2nd; more than one hundreds churches around the town; the bronze colossal statue of Eraclio, dating back to the Byzantine Empire; the Tavern of the Sun, the authentic Medieval place where Italians and French faced (every year in September the Challenge of Barletta is recalled by actors in its original costumes).
Barletta is also the birthplace of Giuseppe De Nittis, a most famous Impressionist painter whom the town is very proud of: a permanent exhibition is available all the year round. Not to mention the outstanding archeological site of Canne della Battaglia (8km from home), battlefield of the historic Romans vs Chartaginians war.
The town centre is extremely lively and nightlife is always amazing, expecially in Spring and Summer: Barletta is the best place to enjoy the essence of Mediterranean food, as there is a widest choice of restaurants, pizzerias, American bars and even pubs, where you can often have your favourite dish and drink “ al fresco”! Still in Summer, the “movida” spreads out to the beach.
Surroundings:
Trani (13km, dramatic cathedral by the sea)
Castel del Monte (27km, octagonal Medieval castle)
Margherita di Savoia (8km, biggest salt flats with therms in Europe)
Alberobello (100km, UNESCO World Heritage listed site)
Promontorio del Gargano (80km, great beaches and windsurfers’ paradise)
Matera (90km, UNESCO World Heritage Town and 2019 European Capital City)
Polignano a mare (100 km )
