The Rectangle - Our gorgeous private apartment is a modern build - in a natural garden setting - fabulous sun aspect and looking to beautiful Akaroa views. Suitable for one or two adults only - with deck area, dining/lounge/kitchenette, bathroom with shower and spacious bedroom with King bed. Includes washing machine. Private entrance - fully self contained - off street parking.
We may also have our home available sometimes - as we travel quite a lot! so please do ask for availability - regardless of what the calendar says :) Our home - The Cube ! is suitable for two adults too
Akaroa water activities include swimming with dolphins, boating outings, amazing hillside walks. Hire bikes, paddleboards, Kayak with penguins and nature outings. Cute colonial village with eclectic shops. 90 minutes from Christchurch by scenic road. Hilltop views. Not suitable for children or pets - and sorry tricky if mobility is an issue. Stairs only to apartment - with a handrail. Please allow at least four nights to enjoy Akaroa and area - shorter stays may be possible. Longer stays may be preferred :) Just ask ! Some guests have stayed for almost two months and wanted more :) A great base for the Banks Peninsula. We may or may not be in residence next door - but always respect guest privacy - this is your home for the stay - but we are available in person or by phone/email if needed. and if we are away we have local caretakers :)

We love where we live - Walk to cafes, shops, art gallery, museum and local small operator tour activities - we are away from the bustle of the main street. Overlooking Stanley Park - for birds and sometimes resident sheep :) There are sea activities by kayak or locally owned tour boats - Nature trips - looking for penguins, dolphins, seals and very occasionally we are visited by orca whales - all in a striking volcanic harbour - Terrific Moari and European history - with great museum in the village and the NZ notable collection at Okains Bay Museum - commended by Te Papa (our national museum, Wellington) ** Please note we are up a hill - so if walking you need to have a level of fitness. Or just a 2 minute drive to the flat. You can go through Stanley Park down to the waterfront, or use the local roads - 5/10 minutes downhill to the Supermarket, restaurants. Uphill on the way back!! Lots of walks into the hills or just around town. Quaint character cottages, and water excursions on the harbour. Possibly best to enjoy the area with a car - so you can venture over into the other bays. There is a very good scenic mail run. The local bays are lovely too. Ideally four plus nights - but ask :)
