Our home is perfectly situated for a vacation to Western Canada. Most visitors focus mainly on the Vancouver region but in order to experience a full western Canadian experience, we recommend exploring the entire region. Below you will find a sample itinerary.
Our home is a newly built home over 3200 square feet in size. There are 3 bedrooms upstairs with 2 queen size beds and one king size bed. Downstairs there is also another bedroom with its own full size bathroom. This means that there are 4 total bedrooms available. There are 4 bathrooms in total for your to use. Also, there is a game/movie room in the basement. On the main floor, there is a television room, dining area, living room and full size kitchen. A patio off the back of the house provides a view of the city and Thompson valley.
We live in Kamloops- the population of the area is approximately 100,000 people. Golfing is a very popular activity along with hiking, wineries and water sports. Kamloops is situated in the perfect spot for exploring British Columbia- ocean to the west and mountains to the east. The city is a great springboard to many areas of Western Canada!
Shuswap lake is nearby and is a great spot for camping and water sports. During the summer, Kamloops hosts the largest First Nations gathering in B.C. called a Pow Wow.
We are centrally located in the province to see all the sites! We are 3.5 hours to Vancouver and 4 hours to Banff/Jasper by car. Whistler is 3.5 hours and Seattle is 4 hours away. We have all the camping supplies and bikes for our exchange family to use while visiting the area. If you would like to fish, Kamloops has many local lakes suitable for fishing.
Sample summer itinerary (can be reversed):
-Land in Calgary mid July and pick up our vehicle from the airport, 2 days at Calgary Stampede, optional visit to the Calgary Heritage Park.
- drive to Banff and Lake Louise, 2 days hiking and visiting the glaciers, Johnston canyon, tea house, Moraine lake, Revelstoke etc.
-drive to Kamloops, stay one week, visiting Margaret Falls, Hemlken Falls, Sun Peaks hiking, river rafting at one of the three areas, golfing, wine tours, heritage railway, First Nations Pow Wow, Shuswap and Paul lake, nightly music in the Park, Annual Rib Fest, Busker’s festival etc.
-drive to Whistler, stay 2 days for hiking, taking in the sites, peak to peak gondola, suspension bridge, Squamish’s Sea to Sky gondola
-Drive to Vancouver, stay 3 days taking in the sites, Stanley Park, Grouse mountain, whale watching, beaches, Capilano suspension bridge, Fly Over Canada etc.
-optional ferry to Victoria and visit Butchard gardens, whale watching, parliament buildings, museum of British Columbia, IMAX theater, downtown Victoria, BC museum etc.
- drop vehicle off at the Vancouver airport and return home with unforgettable memories of your Canadian adventure!

Downtown Kamloops is a community located in the centre of Kamloops. It is situated at the most convenient spot in the city, everything you need is here. There are multiple stores nearby and nature walks are a close walk nearby. The largest park in Kamloops, Riverside park, hosts many events throughout the summer. Restaurants, pubs, grocery store etc can be accessed by car/public transportation or a short walk away.
