Ce que vous allez adorer dans ce logement
8km outside Kurseong, and one hour from Darjeeling, Sungava is a simple village homestay where you can get away from it all. With two bedrooms, two bathroom and a small common living area it offers flexible accommodation for the lone traveller, for family groups and everything in between. This sleepy hamlet is often nestled in the clouds but for lucky ones offers spectacular views down over the rolling tea gardens to the plains and Rivers Teesta and Mahananda. This property is run as a farmstay, and my brother and law and his wife are available to cater for guests for a small daily fee.

Sightseeing in the area
Chimney
The Chimney is the relic of the second cottage built by the British on their way to Darjeeling. While building the Old Military Road between 1839 and 1842. The site of the current Chimney was the main fire in the Cottage which provided accommodation for the Senior British Officers who were supervising the construction of the road. Once the road was completed, the cottage was dismantled and now just the Chimney remains. The first cottage still stands to this day, in Pankhabari.
The Chimney is a short walk from the cottage, and gives the village its name.
Bagora
This is a village about 8km from Chimney, on the Old Military Road. It’s possible to walk there as a short hike/ day-trek and usually takes about 2 to 2.5 hours. There are a number of small tea shops where you can have some tea and refreshments.
Chatakpur
Another pretty mountain village with views of the High Himalayas. You can hire a taxi to take you to Chatakpur and Bagora. (Rs. 800)
Deer Park and Forest Museum
The Dowhill Deer Park and Forest Museum are located about 5 km from the cottage. It is possible to take a short trek from the cottage to visit the Park and Museum. Alternatively, it is possible to combine this visit with your taxi to/from Kurseong by hiring a car for a half day.
