Ce que vous allez adorer dans ce logement
Our quiet, sunlit, brand-new studio loft apartment is centrally located in the popular midcoast Maine region—a perfect place from which to explore, with everything you need when the day is done. The panoramic views in all directions are of picturesque sheep and horse pastures, a wildlife pond, meandering stream and distant hills.
Adjacent to the traditional Maine farmhouse (that we live in), this apartment is built to the Passivhaus Standard, so it's toasty warm in winter after snowy adventures, and typically cool and breezy in summer. Solar panels power the electric heat and appliances as part of our on-going efforts to address the climate change challenge. Our new mini split heat pump serves as reliable heat and cooling with the press of a button.
This uniquely located farm sits on 120 acres of fields and woods, yet is 2 miles from downtown. This provide easy walks and picnics right out the front door, or as much bustling activity as you want minutes later. Additional shared amenities include croquet and badminton, a hammock, soccer nets, a box of our favorite children's toys and books, as well as a large deck and charcoal BBQ. Washer and dryer are in a shared laundry room.
Grooming ponies, helping with shearing sheep (spring and fall), collecting fresh eggs and helping with barn chores might be possible if the timing works out. Because the hay barn is attached to the house, we cannot have candles in the apartment or smoking/vaping anywhere around the farmhouse.

Ce que vous allez adorer dans le quartier
Explore Midcoast Maine from this vibrant little city of Belfast. Here you can find farm-to-table restaurants, art galleries, locally-owned destination shops and all kinds of waterfront and farm-based activities. This area is rich in maritime history and boat building, small-scale agriculture and the arts, music and all-things-local. It is located just over an hour south of Acadia National Park with its famous Rockefeller family carriage trails, and 20 minutes north of Camden Harbor, home to several passenger schooners from the Maine Windjammer Association—the largest fleet of working windjammers in America. The Farnsworth Art Museum (with its Wyeth family paintings and the Olson House) and Samoset Golf course are just a few minutes further south.
Belfast Harbor is part of Penobscot Bay, known for its archipelago of stunning granite-flanked islands, unspoiled coastline and picturesque lobster fishing villages, as well as scenic hiking, biking, sailing and exploring. Kayaks, sailing lessons, various boat excursions, and bikes are available for hire in town. Consider a breakfast, island picnic, sunset, or lobster cruise, or even a family treasure hunt! Local golf, bowling, gym, pickleball, free tennis and community rowing on rare 6-person Cornish rowing gigs are all possible. The shops and activities on Main Street are worth mentioning in more detail: there’s a community pottery studio, community textile studio, Waterfall Arts Center with a huge array of classes, scrumptious yarn and fabric shops, a brewery, well-stocked food Coop, Green Store, excellent shoe, cheese, olive oil, kitchen and hardware stores, two farmers markets, and many eateries including Laan Xang and Satori, a great sushi restaurant. And much more. Workshops, films at the library, three (!) community theater groups, festivals, music on the waterfront, and fairs throughout the summer make coastal Maine a special getaway with something for everyone.
