Our house is our dream home. It was our lifelong desire to live at the beach. In 2006 we finally found our home in Corona Del Mar, 2 1/2 blocks from the beach. It is a 2 story Cape Cod style home, 1800 sq ft with 2 bedrooms. Given our area and love of the ocean and sailing, we have a nautical decor with marine antiques and artifacts as well as adopting a nautical name for our home, "Clinker-Built Cottage." Our home is covered by over-lapping wooden boards. When an old-time wooden boat was constructed this way it was referred to as "clinker-built." Our home name is a take off on that traditional nautical craftsmanship.
Even though our home is in the traditional New England style, we have all updated appliances and a big screen tv with surround sound speakers. Outside, we love our patio. It is redone and serves as our second "living room/dining room". It has a large French oak table, a gas fire ring, brand new propane BBQ grill. market style umbrella and a romantic chaise lounge for two. Given our amazing weather, we use it year round. We count the bluffs at the end of our street which overlook the ocean, as our other "favorite room". We frequently walk there (5 minute walk) after work with our picnic basket filled with wine and cheese to watch the sun go down over Catalina island- or follow the path down to walk along the shore. We are truly blessed to be here and think you will find a lot to love about our home as we share it with you.

Corona Del Mar is one of the most beautiful beach communities in Southern California, located between Newport Beach and Laguna Beach. We are 2 1/2 blocks from the beach. Within 5 to 10 minutes walking you can be at one of three beaches. One of the beaches, China Cove, is on Newport Harbor so you can have access to bay swimming and offers a place to launch our two kayaks. It’s also a great place to just sit and watch dozens of yachts head out to the ocean. If you do decide to kayak, Newport Harbor has miles of shoreline where you can see the boats at their docks or watch the seals swim around the harbor. There is also an extended back bay estuary with active bird life. The other two beaches offer ocean swimming and body surfing. Both are underneath rocky bluffs. The bluffs are a great place to walk down to with a bottle of wine and cheese and watch the sunset. One of the reasons we chose CDM is because it was our favorite sunset in Southern Cal.
Our home is in the heart of the village. We are a 1 to 10 minute walk to great restaurants, bars, salons, grocery store and a retro movie theatre. We have a weekly farmers market a block away where farmers and fisherman come from all over Orange County to sell their freshest produce. We are a five minute drive to Fashion Island, a World class outdoor shopping center with high end clothing and accessory stores, excellent restaurants and a full-service movie theater. Crystal Cove State Park is a five minute drive in the other direction. It has miles of uninterrupted shoreline where you can beachcomb, swim, hike, fish or surf. It also has miles of back country trails were you can hike up the hills and get breathtaking ocean views. Just above Crystal Cove is Pelican Hill Resort and golf course offering fine dining for a special occasion and oc golfing with fabulous ocean views.
We are also located conveniently for sightseeing. Newport Harbor offers boat and stand up paddleboard rentals, charter fishing and whale watching trips, ocean parasailing and a daily high-speed ferry to Catalina Island. Laguna Beach, another very special Southern California ocean community, is only 10 minutes away by car. There you will find many restaurants and very interesting shops and art galleries to explore. Huntington Beach is a 15 minute drive and is the home to Southern California surfing. Famous surfing competitions are held there. Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm are a little over a half-hour drive.
The wonderful thing is that all of the activities above are accessible 12 months of the year because of our beautiful weather!!

We wanted to try to also communicate what a laid -back lifestyle is here. We both work four days a week and once Thursday evening comes, we hardly ever use our cars. Everything is right here in the village and it's hard to want to travel anywhere when we can enjoy the beach down the street.. When you combine that with our beautiful weather, it is magical! Most days we walk along the beach before work, year round. Our sailing club is right here in Newport Beach and we have sailed many a day in January with the snow capped tops of the San Gabriel Mountains in view to the north while enjoying the warm California sun.
