Ce que vous allez adorer dans ce logement
Our home is secure secluded characterful and tucked into the edge of the indigenous forest. Eco-friendly with a farm feel. While you don’t need to care for the animals, they will be here. (There is a caretaker who lives in a separate cottage on the property) We have 2 dogs, a number of chickens and 2 cats!
Sit on the deck with a sundowner and listen to the lions roar. We are 5 mins drive from 2 big cat parks (Jukani and Tenikwa) Monkeyland, Birds of Eden, The Elephant Sanctuary and numerous local vineyards and restaurants.
We are 10mins drive from a dozen beaches, 2 lagoons and kilometres of spectacular coastline with hiking and cycling trails.
The house is built on 3 levels, the lowest being an “inside/outside” bathroom and laundry. This has a large bath for stargazing, double shower and 2 toilets.
The ground floor level has a kitchen opening onto a large deck with views over the valley and up to the Tsitsikamma mountain range. There’s a lounge and 2 double bedrooms with a shared bathroom. On the same level is an annexe with a separate entrance that has a double sleeper couch and queen bed.
Upstairs is another double bedroom and a kids room with bunk beds. There is also a master bedroom with views over Formosa Peak and a large yoga/dance studio/ dressing room. The upstairs has a shared bathroom.
We have bikes and surfboards available for use during an exchange.
Our maid can be available for cleaning and childcare if required.
We can arrange to exchange vehicles. We have a VW caravelle manual for families and touring the surrounding areas. Jeffrey’s Bay, Oudtshoorn and Cape Town (for longer trips) are highly recommended.
We also have a Hyundai Atos automatic for just nipping into town. Car seats and baby seats are available.
The garden is large with a dug in trampoline and grass area for kicking balls, and a jungle gym with a slide and swings. We have a large vegetable garden so help yourself to fresh herbs, veggies, fruit and eggs!
Wildlife is abundant, with deer, bush pigs, monkeys, baboons, wild cats (genets, caracul and leopard) honey badgers, eagles and many more bird species in the forests nearby.
We are off-grid, on solar and rain water, so conscious use of water and power is necessary. You will not be affected by loadshedding, but we do turn the power off between 11pm and 4am to save the batteries. Wifi is decent.
The best time to visit is February through to May as the weather is wonderful and the town and beaches not as busy as December! It’s also slightly cooler as Dec Jan can be uncomfortably hot.
Weather from June to September is unpredictable with temperatures ranging from 5’C to 30’C. One week will have snow-capped peaks and the next will have everyone surfing in a heatwave.
An apartment with 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and lounge is easily split from the main house so we are happy to host smaller groups of guests while we are here. This is the best as we can help with local tips and ideas!

Plettenberg Bay and The Crags are the highlight of the Garden Route and a popular international tourist destination because of the incredible beaches, mountains and forests. As a tourist destination, we are surrounded by excellent restaurants and local wine farms, and activities for all ages and tastes from zip lining and bungee jumping, or surfing, mountain biking and canyoning to various animal parks and game reserves. Or relax on one of our many miles of warm yellow beaches and lagoons! Or shop in anything from local farmers markets to boutique shops...
Being a small town it is friendly and safe.
Our road is a quiet, tarred cul de sac, with a boom at night. It’s safe for kids to ride bikes and skateboard or walk up to visit the donkey sanctuary!

Our busy season is the Christmas holiday, which is not the best time to visit as the beaches are overcrowded, the parking and traffic and shopping difficult!
