Enjoy life on the docks and experience the birthplace of Otis Redding's "Sittin' on the Dock of a Bay." Our place is located on the water and just ten minutes from the Golden Gate bridge, a ferry ride to the heart of San Francisco and half an hour from wine country. This secret hideaway is perfectly located to explore the Bay Area by bike, foot, ferry, or car - from hiking around the Muir Woods' tall redwood forest to sipping wine in Sonoma. Unwind on a quiet pier, tucked away in an active and unique way of life.
Our 3-story, 1,200 sq. ft. houseboat features a main floor with an open floor plan including all the cooking essentials you need with new appliances. Dine with friends at our large table, or sit outside on the deck enjoying the wildlife including harbor seals, herons, a large variety of birds, and if you are lucky you'll see little leopard sharks (don't worry, they don't bite!) and a bat ray. The house is heated with a romantic gas fireplace and eco-friendly distribution of the heat internally. Our large glass doors gives you a feeling of living outside from the comfort of being inside, with unobstructed views of the water and Mount Tam.
Downstairs we have a queen size bed and Roku TV. The second bedroom is perfect for kids, set-up with a loft bed, a crib, a teepee to sleep in, and an another twin bed. Upstairs there is a large couch which doubles as a queen size guest bed. There are tons of games for adults and toys for kids. Our wifi is strong and has a router on each floor.
The home has a bicycle to enjoy all of Marin and its incredible bike paths, as well as kayaks for you to use.
The images are of the houseboat and views from kayak and foot around the neighborhood.

Ce que vous allez adorer dans le quartier
We are just over the Golden Gate Bridge in a gorgeous community of floating homes. There is really nothing like this anywhere in the world - it is truly a different way of life. Watch the fog roll over the hills while sitting in the sun of Sausalito's "banana belt." Wake up to egrets and sea lions. Kayak with the view of San Francisco on the horizon. Run or bike the Marin hills.
The charming community, a stone's throw from San Francisco just over the Golden Gate Bridge, provides a tranquil getaway for individuals and families. Walk the docks and see the cute, unique designs of fellow neighbors. You'll find a hot pink house called the Alien Lifeform Research, a cottage with a large mosaic bird on top, and all kinds of art, plants, and creativity lining each of the piers.
This is a proud bohemian neighborhood with a history that began nearly a century ago. An avid group of artists, writers, musicians, beatniks, and hippies moved here in search of an alternative lifestyle. Since its inception, the community has grown to 400 houseboats while keeping the artistic, hippie vibe.
Marin County, where Sausalito is located, is also a Mecca of outdoors activities. For walks/hikes, explore the Marin Headlands, Muir Woods, Mt Tamalpais, and Redwood forest. For bikers, push yourself to the top of Mt Tam or explore the Paradise loop of Tiburon. And for water enthusiasts, swim to Strawberry or kayak around the other houseboats and the rest of Richardson Bay.
