Ce que vous allez adorer dans ce logement
Two Moon Ranch is a little piece of serenity in the historic Ojai Valley. A large oak tree shades the front garden of lavender, roses and California poppies. Set back from the road, this Southwestern style ranch house is warm and welcoming with high vaulted wood ceilings, white stucco walls, antique Persian rugs, a central fireplace and kitchen in its heart. We are dedicated home cooks and have outfitted our kitchen with all the cooking and baking accoutrements needed to turn farmer's market vegetables into feasts. Off to the side of the open-plan living space is a large glass dining table. The master bedroom has a king size bed, its own bathroom, a desk, a walk-in closet and a large flat screen cable smart TV. The second bedroom has a queen size bed and the third is a child's room with a very comfortable double bed. Each bedroom has its own door to the outside wood deck with shade flowers and plants. The deck has an outdoor kitchen with bbq, counter space and a fridge. A teak table with umbrella is perfect for dining al fresco under the shade of an oak grove. There is a brand new hot tub adjacent to the herb garden. Last but not least is the studio. Converted from the garage in 2020, this beautiful library, writing space and yoga/ meditation studio is a perfect quiet getaway for one to work and dream. The custom redwood mantlepiece holds fresh bouquets and the stereo system and record player is ideal for letting loose.
Ce que vous allez adorer dans le quartier
We are in Meiners Oaks, the more bohemian, down-to-earth side of Ojai, walking distance from El Roblar, the main drag of our little village. There you can find The Farmer & the Cook, a country store/ CSA/ vegetarian Mexican cafe, Papa Lennon's Pizzeria, many vintage stores, BookEnds (a bookstore converted from an old church) and Greater Goods, a community living room/ performance space. We are also a short walk to the Rice Road entrance to the Ventura River Preserve, an enormous expanse of protected wilderness with many trails, swimming holes and a variety of wild sage and flowers. It's almost a ritual for locals to either bike, walk or horseback ride there in the late afternoon golden light. Up to Route 33 a short walk from our house is the infamous Deer Lodge, a biker bar and restaurant from the 30's where Johnny Cash gave early performances when he lived in the neighboring town. If you follow Route 33 up into Los Padres National Park, there are many beautiful spots to hike or picnic. From Matilija Canyon to Rose Valley to the Sespe Wilderness beyond.
Downtown Ojai is a lovely 20 minute bike ride through La Arbolada from our house, and a 7 minute drive. "The Valley of the Moon" (Ojai's original Chumash name) has deep roots in California History. From Krishnamurti to Aldous Huxley to Dadaist Beatrice Wood to the Theosophists, this little town of 8,000 has a rich history as Shangri-La for spiritualists and artists.
The coast is 20 minutes away, with beautiful beaches from Rincon to Summerland to Montecito to Santa Barbara. It would take days to visit them all.
Santa Barbara is 40 minutes north via the spectacular Route 150 with views of Lake Casitas, avocado groves and the glistening Pacific below.
