Ce que vous allez adorer dans ce logement
Our 1760 River House is located in a small village in the historic New England Berkshires. Our acre of land is abutted by a river on two sides. The sounds of the river are like a sleep chamber!! Lots of privacy, but just a short walk up our dirt road to the General Store for the NYTimes and coffee. We are 5 miles from Great Barrington and 10 miles South of Lenox, Kripalyu and historic Stockbridge. 2 hours from Boston and 3 hours from NYC. Summers are lush and gorgeous and we are also famous for leaf-peeping in the fall and winter sports and charming, relaxing coziness!
We are surrounded by natural beauty: lakes, swimming, hiking, kayaking, fishing and skiing in winter -- with plenty of access points to the Appalachian trail that runs through our village! We have kayaks and a local town beach on the lake for soothing swimming and water play.
We also are situated amongst world-class cultural must-see's such as Mass MoCA, Jacob's Pillow, Tanglewood, Berkshire Theater Festival, Williamstown Theater Festival, Kripalyu Yoga center, Shaespeare and Company, et al. And the food is truly amazing -- from what you can buy in the stores and roadside stands to cook at home to the numerous farm-to-table restaurants throughout the area. It's lovely to drive a dirt road through a forest and past a waterfall on your way to a Michelin-starred restaurant! We have a flower garden, a vegetable garden, a lovely outdoor dining area, BBQ, kayaks available to enjoy. In winter we are 5 miles from Butternut ski resorty and 15 miles from Catamount and Jiminy Peak.
We love our home and have taken great care to select the art, the furniture, the flowers and everything that is in it. We will respect any place we stay. Our living room was built in 1760 and we have the original working fieldstone fireplace as the centerpiece. We have a master suite downstairs with a king, a double upstairs in one guest room with a single in the other guest room. Full bath and shower upstairs. A half bath downstairs -- with a shower renovation being added this summer. We have fast wi-fi (fiber!) and TV/entertainment. I love to cook and we have a chef's kitchen and pantry, with stainless appliances and a smart range. Dining options at home include both inside as well as outside. Our water from the tap comes from an aetesian well system and is life-affirming!
This is our little slice of heaven and are happy to share our home and village with fellow travelers!
Note that we now have a new home for exchange in West Hollywood. A few pictures have been added to our home exchange site. It is contemporary and zen -- two bedrooms and 2.5 baths and 2000 square feet at the base of the Hollywood Hills. A short walk to Sunset Plaza restaurants and coffee shops. And we have indoor parking!

Ce que vous allez adorer dans le quartier
We are in the middle of the village of Monterey, yet have plenty of privacy by being set further off the road, along the river that runs through the area.. Walk to NY Times and coffee in the morning at the General Store -- the village playground, brand new library and Lake Garfield with a town beach are all within walking distance. Goat farm for fresh goat cheese is a short stroll away! Lots of farm stands for local produce as well as meats, eggs and cheeses. Even the water from our tap is amazing.
Le mot de la fin
We do have a car for possible exchange, depending on schedule. We are an hour from train stations from NY and also from Boston. The drive from either NY or Boston is about 2-2.5 hours. Well behaved dogs welcome, cats on a case by case basis.
Also if a swap is a Guest Points swap or nonsimultaneous, I do have a housekeeping fee of $200 that will need to be paid upfront. Thanks.
