I live in a beautiful 3 story house in West Philadelphia, which is a creative, respectful, loving home with 1 other queer artist. I'm in my late 30s and my housemate (who owns the home) is in her late 50s. We have a nice balance of independent life and house community, as we often host other artists and organize small artist retreats.
The homeowner is a photographer and dreamed up this sweet vision. She has made the house an artist's haven, with lots of color and art everywhere. I moved into the house in spring of 2021 and I set up a home recording studio in my room (in the pics, you can see the sound absorption panels on the wall). At any given time, there are 1-2 other queer artists staying here. We have no pets. We are pretty chill, more interested in potlucks than parties. We don't drink much, we sometimes play games, sing songs, or watch a movie together, and we're mostly in bed by 11 pm.
We welcome queer artists to make your own artist retreat here! It's been inspiring and motivating for us to live with other queer artists. Sometimes we have small art gatherings, and often it's just nice to know that there's someone else in the house making their art.
There are two rooms that could be options for your stay. If I'm away, you would stay in my room (on the 3rd floor). If I'm here, you could stay in our residency guest room (on the 2nd floor). Either way, you would have a kitchen that you share with 0-1 other housemates. (There are two kitchens in the house!) There are 2.5 bathrooms, and our first floor has a shared living room and dining room that you are welcome to use any time. We also have a small backyard and front porch.
On the third floor, there is a washer + dryer, bathroom with a clawfoot tub, and the kitchen that you would use (see pics).

We are centrally located with access to city and nature. We live very close to Fairmount Park (a wide expanse of trails, gardens, and even a public pool!) and several other small parks. We live a couple blocks away from Lancaster Ave which has all sorts of shops and community spaces. We also live very close to downtown Philadelphia, including the Art Museum (with the Rocky steps!). The bus and trolley are within 0-2 blocks of the house and it's about 15 minutes to downtown.
