First impressions can be deceiving, because despite its outward appearance our house allows for comfortable living with space to spare. We have two double bedrooms and a single bedroom that can also double as an office. There are two full bathrooms, one with a shower and one with a bath, and two additional half bathrooms. The kitchen is fully equipped and is next to a breakfast nook that can seat six. Next to the kitchen is the more formal dining room, which leads to a small sitting area and access to the patio and garden. The dining area also opens up to a living room with a working fireplace. On the same entry level is the family room, where you'll find couches and a television. Upstairs are two mirror-image rooms separated by a bathroom. Most rooms have overhead fans and/or air conditioning units. Finally, in the basement level we have an exercise room and garage.

Our cozy house sits near the end of a quiet dead-end road within easy walking distance of Needham town center, which in recent years has become a regional restaurant hub. There are also some good wine stores.
Needham is a walking-friendly town, with plenty of sidewalks and also a number of nature trails. Ridge Hill Reservation offers extensive hiking trails, as does the Needham Town Forest, which also has biking trails. There are a number of shorter trails at various conservation areas in the town.

The train into Boston is a ten-minute walk from the house, which makes it easy to visit the city's museums and historic sights. Needham is also well located for highways. Interstate 95 runs through the far side of town (we can't hear it), making it easy to get to destinations to the south (such as Cape Cod) or the North (Lexington, Concord, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine). The town is also near to the Mass Pike (I90), giving access to western Massachusetts.
