Ce que vous allez adorer dans le quartier

The pedestrianised streets in the centre of UNESCO listed Kerkyra (Corfu Old Town) offer sights, smells and experiences that reflect its long history as a spice, silk and ceramics trading port with a potpourri of Greek, Italian, Albanian and local Corfiot colour, tradition and mouthwatering culinary delights.

History and hospitality, sunshine and a carefree air combine to delight all the senses, fabulous restaurants and bars with the clear, blue Ionian sea as a brilliant backdrop.

Indigo - Corfu Old Town, is within walking distance of everything, including the Old and New Venetian Fortresses, museums, marinas, swimming spots and the fabulous Corfiot produce and crafts on offer in the winding laneways and pedestrian streets of the Old Town.

We invite you to come dip your toes in the sea and enjoy the idyllic Greek island life.

Le mot de la fin

*Corfu Town is serviced by the Corfu International Airport, only minutes from the Old Town, and also by ferries from all across the region to the main Corfu harbour.

*Car and boat rentals are available within walking distance of the apartment to explore the diversity of landscapes, beaches and activities across the island including flamingo and butterfly habitats. The winding road across the island takes less than an hour and the variety of coastline on the island ranges from white pebble beaches to cream sandy bays; long black volcanic sand beaches to rocky outcrops with sheer cliffs.

And if that's not enough for your island holiday, you can hop on a Dolphin hydrofoil to Paxos Island for the day or other ferries for overnight or more days to the mainland, other Ionian Islands, Albania. Larger car ferries can also take you to Italy and Croatia.

Corfu has a rich and diverse history being part of the Spice Trade Route from the 14th century. Some notable historical landmarks worth visiting are:
*The Old and New Fortresses: fascinating not only for their historical relevance but also for their stunning views over the Old Town, the Ionian Sea, the Greek mainland and much of Corfu island.

*The Palace of St Michael and St George: built by the British in 1815, this impressive palace now houses an excellent Museum of Asian Art, brimming with Japanese prints, Indian sculptures and many other oriental treasures.

*The Campiello: the medieval heart of Corfu Town. Just wander, get lost, look up and around you and stop for delicious refreshments!

*The churches: there are nearly 40 Greek Orthodox churches in Corfu Town, adorned with exquisite religion iconography including the Church of St Spyridon (1596), and the Orthodox Cathedral (1577).

*The Liston is the heart of the old town, an elegant piazza-cum-promenade whose arcade is lined with cafés, restaurants and boutiques. Although it dates back to Venetian times, it was the French who gave it its Parisian feel.

*Both the Archaeological Museum and the Byzantine Museum are also worth a visit.
