The apartment is in the heart of Cortona, Italy. It is well appointed and traditionally Italian design. It is a ground floor unit. It was constructed nearly 500 years ago but has been renovated and now has modern conveniences. Converters are needed as plugs are Italian and produce a stronger voltage than American plugs. There is absolutely no smoking allowed in the apartment. The living room has a large stone fireplace but it is not functional. The kitchen is a galley style kitchen with a stove, oven, refrigerator/freezer and sink, there is no dishwasher. Dishes must be washed and put away. We have a Brita filter in the refrigerator for water but the city water is good. Everything you need to cook a meal is available but the restaurants in Cortona are exceptional and affordable. Although we love to cook, Cortona is one place I choose to dine out versus cook. Each bedroom sleep 2 people. One has a matriominial bed and the other has two twins. The bathroom has a tub/shower combination and one larger sink. There is a washer but no dryer. We don’t use it as it takes days to dry your clothes. It can blow out the heat if too many things are on at one time. We use the local laundry mat on Dardano. The wash cycle comes complete with soap dispensed in the cycle making it very easy to do your laundry quickly. The temperature in the home is pre-set. There is no air conditioning. There are 2 floor fans. There is Wifi and a T.V. In the living room. There is a 5 day minimum stay required. There is a lockbox in the house attached to the window. When you arrive the apartment will have clean bedding, sheets and towels. Please leave the cleaning fee on the table by the door. The fee is €200. There are 2 keys in the lock box. Please keep one in the box as there is no one to let you in should you lock yourself out. When you leave, please put both keys in the lock box and be sure it is locked. The closet in the second bedroom is not available. There is a large closet in the master bedroom. Please use the one closet in the master bedroom.

We live on a quiet street behind the main piazza Republica up a small street behind La Logetta in Cortona. If you walk to La Logetta Restaurant you are almost there. In Cortona each night you will see cafe’s set up for appertivo and each morning coffee shops offering espresso’s and pastries. Lovely shops, wine stores, a very small mini market (hence why cooking does not work well), a small fruit store, a butcher, a day spa, and over 30 restaurants are all a 5-10 minutes walk. Beautiful large and small catholic churches are around every corner. The movie “Under the Tuscan Sun” was filmed in Cortona and the author Francis Mayes lives in the famous Villa Bramasole, just a short 20 minute walk away through the park. Cortona is a town with all cobblestone streets. The city has many steep hills so good walking shoes are a must. The apartment and city are not ADA complaint. You can reach Cortona by rental car, driver, train and bus. Train service is available from both Rome and Florence. Once you arrive at the Camucia/Cortona station the bus can transfer you to Cortona but it only runs certain hours, once an hour and is not terribly reliable. It only runs on specific hours. There are no taxi’s at the train station so you either transfer on the bus out front very quickly or have Luca (driver pre-set up your arrival.) It’s a tight bus connection so we recommend you call our driver Luca and set up a pick-up. His number is +39 339 482 1491. You can contact in on What’s Ap. This way he can show you exactly where the apartment is located and help you up the steep hill with your luggage. If you choose to rent a car, you may NOT drive inside the walled city, you will be ticketed and still not be able to park near the apartment. Parking is available outside the walls and it must be paid from 8am to 8pm. If you are lost, call Luca +39 339 4821491

A cleaning fee of €200 needs to be left on the table in the apartment for cleaning and its required. There is absolutely no smoking allowed in the apartment. It is very difficult to find the property as many properties in Italy can be tricky to find. April/May/October/November and December are the best months. Summer is too hot!
Cortona is a Christmas Wonderland!! The lights, the shopping, the events are marvelous. January and February are very, very quiet and many stores and restaurants are closed. Stays are not recommended during these 2 months or July or August. It is unbearably hot
March is the launch of the wine festivals, Syrah, Chianti, Montefalco and more. The Molesini wine tour is one not to be missed! The Syrah festival at Signorelli Theatro is fabulous.
