Ce que vous allez adorer dans ce logement
We have lots of space and plenty of opportunities for privacy within our home. We are open to any type of exchange including hospitality. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats, so our entire home isn’t often available; however, don’t hesitate to ask if you do not see availability on our calendar! Regarding hospitality exchanges - we have hosted couples or families of 3-4 while we are here at home, and it has been a great experience. We have a spacious guest room and office with a futon (2 rooms) available on the 3rd floor (so lots of privacy) for hospitality guests. The guest bathroom is on the 2nd floor, however. Regarding the whole house, in addition to the third floor mentioned earlier, the second floor has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (one is an ensuite in the master’s bedroom). The master’s bedroom has a king-size bed, while the other 3 beds and futon are doubles. We also have a small room with an electric fireplace in the basement, for watching tv, etc. We have a large partially fenced-in backyard, with forest in the back), a deck for outside dining or relaxing, and a patio with a fire pit. Sitting quietly outside you might see all types of birds including pileated woodpeckers and even, on rare occasions, wild turkeys. You might see deer and it’s 100% guaranteed you will see squirrels! There’s a perennial garden on all sides of our yard, a bird feeder and bird houses. We are in a quiet neighborhood, which is a quick drive from downtown. Neighbors walk their dogs and greet each other and most people know each other’s names and are helpful and friendly.
We do not have a garage, but our driveway fits up to 4 cars.
We do not charge a cleaning fee, assuming our guests will care for our home as they would their own.

Our quiet neighborhood in Hamilton, MA gives you access to many sites and gives you plenty of things to do.
*we live within a 10 minute drive to the commuter train into Boston (the train takes 35 minutes)
*we live 15-30 minutes from many beautiful beaches (Crane, Wingaersheek, Good Harbor...to name a few).
*explore great places for being out in nature: nearby farms, forests, lakes, coastal areas. Many great places for walking/dog walking.
*beautiful and interesting coastal towns: Salem, Manchester, Essex, Gloucester, Ipswich, Rockport, Newburyport, Marblehead, and Amesbury
*great local places for seafood and shopping
*cultural/historic sites (historic houses from 1600s-1900s), art museums, galleries, artist neighborhoods
*multiple indoor and outdoor swimming pools within 5 miles
*sites related to the American Revolution in Boston, Concord, etc.
*our neighbors and friends! We will introduce you, if possible, to kind people who can help you in any situation and give you advice, driving directions, etc.
*our 2 towns of Hamilton & Wenham have a combined population of 16,000 people, a small supermarket, good restaurants, a public library, pharmacy, gift shops, beauty salons, a post office, parks & playgrounds.

We have two dogs that generally do not travel with us (but please ask, because sometimes they do) and would need to be cared for (let in and out and fed). We have wonderful neighbors who are willing to help if you are out all day. WE ALSO HAVE TWO CATS that would need to be fed, etc. They do NOT go outside.
We try hard to keep our home clean; however, we cannot guarantee a 100% pet hair-free environment, with 4 pets. We would be very happy to offer reduced guest points in exchange for pet care. We never charge for cleaning fees on reciprocal exchanges and try to avoid it on GP exchanges unless it’s shorter term and/or we have back-to-back guests staying while we’re out of town. Happy to chat more about that.
This part of Massachusetts really has it all and we will help you get the most out of your visit. It is easy to take a day trip to neighboring states (New Hampshire, Maine). Anyone interested in Alpine (downhill) skiing can drive between 45 minutes - 2 hours to find good skiing. However, it's a 3-4 hour drive to some of the best ski areas in New England, so our home is not suitable for most skiers. Other winter activities include Nordic (cross-country) skiing, sledding, walking through snowy forests, etc. Summer is the best season to visit if you like the beach, but fall and spring are good, too. Our car is generally not available, due to insurance issues, but we’re open to discussing it. We can easily find you a babysitter, if you’d like an evening away from the kids.
We are always looking for an interesting place to stay that we can drive to (and possibly take our dogs), but are also interested in the Caribbean, Central America, Mexico, Europe, and most destinations in the U.S. Very interested in visiting the southeast coast (GA, NC, SC).
We are interested in ski vacations in New England or the western U.S.
