Ce que vous allez adorer dans ce logement
Our home is comfortable and sits in a lovely rural setting, in an area with lots of ancient Irish history around about - a couple of archaeological digs have been carried out in our immediate area, yet our home sits close to good arterial roads. Our home has two double bedrooms, and bunk beds, a bathroom with shower and bath, and a kitchen/living space, a library/sitting room and a decent garden space, overlooking fields lined with hawthorn hedges. One of the double bedrooms has a child's bed.
The highlight of where we live is the fact that we are spoilt with a choice of 18 beautiful beaches within a 38-minute drive, most are around 32 mins. My favourites are: White Park Bay, Murlough Bay (not to be confused with Murlough Bay, County Down), White Rocks, Cushendun and Ballycastle. Dotted along the coast, too, are lots of quaint little villages like Cushendun, Glenarm and Ballycastle. There are lots of tourist sites within 30mins drive such as the Giant's causeway, Carrick-a-rede rope bridge, the Dark Hedges, Ballintoy Harbour, Dunluce Castle, Kinbane Castle, etc.. The Torr head coastal drive is another stunning option. The coast provides ample options for walkers as do the Glens of Antrim, particularly Glenariff (20 mins from us), which, as well as the 8.9km scenic trail, has the stunning waterfall walk. For serious walkers/hikers the Mourne Mountains are doable for a day trip - please get in touch and I can fill you in on the best trails and paths to do there - it's where I am from originally, and I walked the mountains a lot. Another perk of this area is that there is minimal traffic in rural areas! For adults who would like to enjoy some TLC, the renowned Galgorm spa is only a ten minute drive from our home.
If you - like me - like to visit old properties we have National Trust sites like Mussenden Temple on the north coast, and the beautiful Mount Stewart (highly recommended) is 1hr 10mins (and if interested in antiques, the nearby Greyabbey is fab to visit), 40mins will take you to Springhill House, 1hr 15mins to the Argory, Castle Ward is 1hr30mins, but the latter is well worth visiting.
If you have children, Rose Park Farm, which is a fantastic petting farm, is only a ten minute drive from our house, and W5 in Belfast is also excellent for children of all ages. Older children who are happy to walk (!) would really enjoy the Glenariff waterfall walk 20mins away and if they like water action The Lake at Kilrea is only 12mins away! Of course the castles: Dunluce, and Carrickfergus, and the beaches would provide plenty of distraction/entertainment. A trip from Ballycastle to Rathlin island would also afford children the opportunity to see the bird sanctuary, which in May/June also has puffins.
Belfast has lots to do: Titanic Belfast, The Ulster Folk and Transport Museum [❤️], the Ulster Museum, Crumlin Road Gaol, St George's Market, W5, SS Nomadic, the peace walls, etc., and lots more.
For anyone interested in motorcycle racing, the North West 200, the largest sporting event in Ireland, is held half an hr away from us every year, at the start of May. It is undoubtedly one of the most thrilling road racing events in the world.
At our home there is plenty of parking, and we might be able to make one of our cars available for you to use, if you are flying in to the country. For anyone coming from Scotland via the Campbeltown to Ballycastle foot ferry, we might be able to leave a car at the carpark for when you get off the boat at Ballycastle.
Please get in touch if you would like to come but the dates don't correspond on our calendar - we still might be able to make it happen. And if you would like to know more about the area or if there are things to do to match your interests get in touch. I would want whoever stays in our home to have a fantastic holiday and I'd be happy to answer any questions!
We are interested in going to the Dordogne in summer 2026, but might be interested in other options too.
