Our newly remodeled home is in a beautiful, unique part of California. If you like redwood trees and whales, this might be a great place for you! It is a 1700 square foot, 4 bed, 2 bath, single story home that is only six miles from the Monterey Bay Marine Sanctuary and Santa Cruz. We have lived here for 33 years and hope never to move away because there are few places we find to vacation that we like better than where we live!
We have a gorgeous fireplace with a full-wall oak mantel piece in the living room with windows that look out onto the redwood-covered mountain in front of us, and a mountain just behind us. We love flowers and have a flower garden in the front yard and back patio, with a front porch and a fire pit on the patio.
Both bathrooms have beautiful tile and are nicely appointed. The master bedroom is large with a large walk-in shower with a tiled seat. There are 4 large windows in the bedroom that look onto the flower garden and patio. The bedrooms all have solid oak floors with some area rugs. There is a dedicated office with a beautiful mural of a waterfall. The dining room looks out onto the front yard through a bay window with an open ceiling, overlooking the lawn and flowers.
The kitchen was remodeled six months ago and is both beautiful and functional. The copper farmhouse sink and faucet, range hood, and wall sculptures all add to the ambiance. Floors in the living area were recently replaced and the interior repainted and redecorated in the last 2 years. Our house has become our art project!
There is a large swing on the porch and a table with four chairs for outdoor dining, as well as a large table with six chairs on the back patio, along with a barbeque and a fireplace outside with seating for 6. Lots of room to gather and enjoy the beautiful scenery without having to leave the property!

Our neighborhood is a very friendly place! We live on a quiet, dead end street with only 11 houses on it, that is less than a block from our little mountain town's downtown area. You can walk to the grocery store, health food store, two banks, and restaurants, nail salons, and a little local hardware store and two coffee shops. More shopping is available in Scotts Valley, seven minutes away, or Santa Cruz that is 15 minutes away.
We are 15 minutes away from kayaking and whale watching in Santa Cruz. The Monterey Bay Marine Sanctuary is a world-class sight for marine wildlife, surfing, sailing, and boating. We live less than a mile from a state park (Henry Cowell) with old growth redwoods and a river that runs through it. Two blocks away is a separate part of the park that has a beautiful creek and hiking trails that is within walking distance.
You get the best of both worlds here- a small, rural mountain community with major shopping and cultural attractions within 15 minutes, and a 45 minute drive to Silicon Valley. Monterey and Carmel are an hour south and San Francisco is about 1.5 hours to the north. Yosemite is four hours away and Lake Tahoe is about the same. There is little you cannot find in this sweet slice of California!
