NOTE: For summer 2025 we are no longer accepting requests. Hi there! We are a semi-retired couple from Washington DC. Celia is a scientist, and Grant is a news cameraman. Finally empty nesters, we’re looking forward to traveling and visiting our children and exploring new places too. We purchased our beach house in the Outer Banks of North Carolina in 2020 as a getaway from our primary home at the start of the pandemic. We vacationed here for many years before buying and absolutely love the OBX!! Our cottage is on a lovely, quiet street and just a quick 8 min walk to the beautiful ocean beach - or a 2 minute drive if you prefer. We have three bedrooms, one with a king bed, and the other two bedrooms each have one queen bed. There are 2 full bathrooms, one shower/tub combo, and the 2nd bathroom has a new tiled shower. We have a refreshing swimming pool and a covered outdoor seating area in the back yard, and there are three decks around the house. Enjoy a book under the Live Oak Trees in the backyard hammock, or take a nap in the lounge chair around the pool. We use the 4th bedroom an an office/gym and have very fast and reliable Wi-Fi. The office space has a desk, a weight rack, and several yoga mats for your use. The kitchen is fully stocked and you are welcome to use our pantry items. Multiple grocery stores are less than 10 minutes away. We have an abundance of white tailed deer wandering around the OBX - you’ll see them often from the front porch as you sip your morning cuppa as they meander through our lawn. They travel in packs, so if you see one while you are driving, slow down and look for the rest of the pack!

There is no place on earth quite like North Carolina’s Outer Banks! The Outer Banks (OBX) are barrier islands off the coast of the U.S. state of North Carolina, separating the Atlantic Ocean from the mainland featuring open-sea beaches, state parks, and shipwreck diving. We love early morning sunrise strolls and evenings on the beach watching for dolphins. Our beaches are not crowded, even in the middle of the summer as only owners have beach access. You can walk for miles and miles. Uniquely spread across 100 miles of beautiful barrier islands, this destination feels a world away. We love visiting the local charming beach towns, dining out at the many delicious restaurants, visiting historic lighthouses and unspoiled beaches – there is so much to experience! We’ve fallen in love with this laid back beach community with so many opportunities for exploration. The beach is an easy 8 - 10 min walk or 2 min drive from our home (there is parking available with our beach pass). The sound side of OBX is an 8 - 10 min walk to the local marina where you can launch your kayak, take a walk along the wooded trails, or watch the sunset at Soundside Park. Our cottage is one block from the playground and a 10 minute walk to the local tennis courts. So many options for fun and relaxation!

- Rent a sailboat or go on a sailing tour on the sound side of OBX. Adventures include parasailing, sunset cruise or a vineyard voyage/sunset cruise, and jet skiing. There are multiple outfitters including Kitty Hawk Kites in Duck.
- Learn about Wilbur & Orville Wright's first powered flight on December 17, 1903, near Kitty Hawk in Kill Devil Hills.
- Experience the magic of that inventive breakthrough at the Wright Brothers National Memorial, and the spirit of flight remains alive at Jockey's Ridge State Park, North Carolina’s most visited state park, and tallest sand dunes on the East Coast – a favorite spot for hang gliding and kite flying.
- Visit attractions that celebrate our Elizabethan history, like The Lost Colony, Roanoke Island Festival Park and the Elizabethan Gardens.
- See the Bodie Island Lighthouse and the majestic Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, which stands at 208 feet, the tallest in the United States.
- Go shopping up and down the main road on OBX in our unique towns including Duck, Kill Devil Hills, Kitty Hawk, and Nags Head. Drive farther south to Cape Hatteras.
- Five minute drive to Duck Town Park and Boardwalk. This fabulous 11-acre soundside green space is tucked inside the Village of Duck. The soundside boardwalk extends nearly a mile along the Currituck Sound and connects the town’s commercial village area. Visit the amphitheater, the Town Green, a playground, a public kayak/canoe launch, a crabbing area, a picnic shelter, walking trails through the maritime forest and accesses to the Duck Boardwalk. Free, family-friendly activities are held here year-round. The Duck Jazz Festival takes place each October, and other seasonal events are held throughout the year. Terrific shopping and restaurants can be found all along the Boardwalk!

This is our second home where we spend at least 50% of our time. This is never a rental home. We hope you love it here as much as we do!
Because this is a resort area, cleaning fees are quite high. Our reliable housekeeper charges $300 and we request that guests leave cash for her on the kitchen counter as you depart.
Also, small hypoallergenic dogs may be allowed, please check with us first. No large dogs or cats as owner is allergic.
