Ce que vous allez adorer dans ce logement
We live in a 125qm semi-detached house with a small, shady garden, almost in the woods in Heidelberg-Ziegelhausen. From the street, you have to go down a few stairs to the entrance door, but inside the house, even the lowest level is still high above the lowest part of the garden. So, as you can imagine, there are quite a few stairs that keep us fit!
Through all the main windows you have a view of the wooded other side of the valley and with a bit of luck you can watch birds of prey gliding through the valley. Our street is very calm as it is a dead-end street which only leads to hiking-trailheads for lovely walks just behind the house.
With two balconies and the terrace you surely find a place to either enjoy the sun or a shady spot under the dense foliage of the big trees next to the house. In winter, you might enjoy the fireplace stove in the living-room and the plants we then have inside the house. It'd be great if you could water them. (For dry summers, hoses make this an easy and quick job.)

Ce que vous allez adorer dans le quartier
Ziegelhausen-"downtown" has a supermarket , some small shops and restaurants but for all of them you either need the car or the bus unless you take a nice long walk through the woods to get there. You could also go to the lovely, historic Kloster Stift Neuburg (a monastry) to enjoy the beer-garden with a glass of beer from the monks' brewery, a concert, or the Christmas market in winter.
The bus stop is 2 min. away from our house (*down* a flight of stairs - up depends on your fitness level ;-). But you can also walk along our road to get there in about 12 min. The bus ride offering great views takes you to Heidelberg's truly romantic old town on the other side of the river Neckar in 20 min.
For us, living in Ziegelhausen, Heidelberg's only air health resort, offers the best of both worlds: nature right behind the house and culture abound in a few minutes!
- Buzzy restaurants: Heidelberg offers both typical, very old, and traditional places but also international ones. Upscale cuisine rounds off the picture.
- Cool bars: The Bar d'Aix, Bar Centrale, and others in Heidelberg-Neuenheim
- Cozy cafés: Again, the old town is the place to be!
- Retail therapy: The old town, but also Neuenheim on this side of the Neckar with its fine boutiques, jewellers and galleries.
- Bit of culture: Various museums, festivals (Jazz, Classic music, film, literature), the castle (of course!), talks at the university open to the public, theatres
- Walks in the park: Behind our home! Then - of course - the very famous Philosophers' Walk with its fantastic views of the castle, the River Neckar and the old town. Truely one of the prettiest walks in all of Germany.
- Spot of exercise: The Neckar for cayaking, stand-up paddeling, beach volleyball along the Neckar.
- Day tripping: Picturesque Ladenburg (lovely bike our to the oldest Roman town this side of the river Rhein), taking a boat to visit small towns and castles along the Neckar, Schwetzingen with its Baroque castle and huge gardens, Mannheim for shopping and museum. Further away: Baden-Baden, Frankfurt, Straßburg for shopping, culture and famous and historical spas (Baden-Baden)
