Ce que vous allez adorer dans ce logement
Set on Northern Ireland's "Gold Coast" our modern bungalow has wraparound private gardens and extensive panoramic sea views across Belfast Lough - stretching from Belfast harbour, where you can see the iconic Harland & Wolff cranes in the Titanic Quarter right around the coast to an 800 year old castle at Carrickfergus and beyond (over 12 miles). We are a 10-15 minute walk to the local beach.
There are interlinking balconies along the whole house to maximize your external enjoyment of the views with our en-suite bedroom having floor to ceiling windows with doors onto the balcony. The ensuite is a wetroom (which is ideal for cleaning wetsuits!) The living and dining rooms also have double doors leading to the balconies and one can also enjoy the views from the kitchen when cooking dinner or from our third bedroom while relaxing on the bed settee.
Our second bedroom has lovely views of the garden, as does our study (a 4th bedroom but not suitable for sleeping in). We also have a family bathroom with a p-shaped bath and extra shower. We have a real fire in the living room, although it is not required in winter as the gas heating is excellent.
We have wifi and you can cast your own tv shows/films to our TV or your music to a sound bar in the master bedroom.
Although we are only a short walk from Holywood's vibrant town centre, the house is ideal for nature lovers as we have a small wooded path alongside the house which homes a variety of wildlife. We are a 10 minute drive to Helen's Bay beach where we swim as the water quality is rated as "Excellent". Helen's Bay ajoins Crawfordsburn Country Park, which has beautiful walks, a waterfall, and a 5k running track which takes you through meadows, wooded glens and along a larger beach with a cafe and toilet facilities closeby. We are also a 10 minute drive from Redburn Country Park which has elevated walks giving amazing views of Belfast Lough.
We share our home with 2 cats who will be sharing the house with you during your visit. If you plan to travel around Ireland during your stay, we can arrange for a family member to call round to feed the cats during your absence.

Ce que vous allez adorer dans le quartier
Famous as the hometown of world champion golfer Rory McIroy, Holywood is a trendy town with a village feel which has often been voted the best place to live in Northern Ireland by the UK Sunday Times. It has a number of independent restaurants, cafes, bars, boutiques and art galleries. It is an ideal touring base for all of Northern Ireland but Belfast is conveniently close, particularly for those wanting a quick weekend break to see the world class Titanic Centre (voted the World's Best Tourist Attraction at the World Travel Awards 2016), the Game of Thrones locations tour, or wanting to try one of our 3 Michelin starred restaurants. Even Dublin is only a 2 hour drive away.
Belfast can be reached in 10-20 minutes by car, train or bus with our home being only a 10 minute walk to the bus/train stops. Belfast City airport is a 5 minute drive away and although you can enjoy watching the planes landing from our house, you cannot hear them as they descend over the bay. If you are arriving by Ferry, then Belfast Port is around a 20 minute drive.
Nature lovers will enjoy our beaches and miles of stunning coastal walks past Grey Point Fort museum and all the way to Bangor Marina.
There is also plenty for children to do with easy access to waterparks, trampoline parks, skydiving and skiing parks, and the W5 science park at the Titanic Quarter.
- Buzzy restaurants: Fontana, Frae, the Dirty Duck and Noble (recommended in the UK national newspaper, The Guardian) are our favourites plus there is a variety of contemporary pizza, indian, Asian fusion and Mexican restaurants.
- Cool bars: A broad variety including the historic Ned's Bar at the town's Maypole, the Dirty Duck by the shore, Alexander's, Holywood wine bar and Monroes cocktail bar.
- Cozy cafés: Loads! Baytree, the Coffee Yard (which sells paintings), the dog friendly Joxer, Homebird, Costa, Frae, Camphill Organic Foods. Also some delis, bakeries, butchers and general food shops.
- Retail therapy: Plenty of independent clothes and gift shops, although we love all the local charity shops for a unique recycled find.
- Bit of culture: Ulster Folk and Transport Museum is a 5 minute drive or a 15 minute walk; Holywood Priory - from the 7th Century; Holywood Motte - an Anglo Norman Castle mound; Ireland's last remaining maypole is in the town centre plus; our Parliament (Stormont) is only a 15 minute drive away where you can have tours, enjoy a nice lunch or walk or run in the beautiful gardens which also have a a huge playground and outdoor gym. Belfast is full of museums and for a great take on Northern Irish history take a guided tour at the Crumlin Road Gaol where our first First and Deputy First Ministers, Ian Paisley and Martin McGuiness were imprisoned before becoming Northern Ireland's leaders. A former Irish president, Eamon De Valera was also imprisioned there!
- Walks in the park: North Down Coastal path, passing Grey Fort Point and Crawfordsburn Country park; Stormont Estate - the beautiful grounds of our Parliament; Redburn Park; Glenlyon Park, Botanic Gardens Belfast.
- Spot of exercise: We're ideally located for wild sea swimming at Helen's Bay or Crawfordsburn and the coastal path is ideal for picturesque walks or runs. There are park runs in Stormont and Belfast, a running track at Crawfordsburn Country Park (beautiful scenery); we also enjoy cycling to Belfast when the weather permits as it is only a 30 minute journey and an ideal way to explore the city.
- Day tripping: Antrim coast - Giants Causeway, Carrick-a-rede bridge, Dunluce Castle and Ballintoy Bay; Titanic Centre; Mourne Mountains; Fermanagh Lakes; Londonderry; any Game of Thrones filming location and Dublin.
