'Maiden Cottage' is a delightful (by all accounts) Victorian property which has been renovated for comfort and good design. While retaining the aura of 1887, it also contains a modern kitchen and two bathrooms, Vi Spring beds, as well as interesting, eclectic furnishings, art, WiFi, and satellite TV. The rear garden is an enticing sun trap, yet when you strike off into town, the level walk takes just ten minutes.
Chichester's Roman origins are still apparent, along with a magnificent AD 1100 cathedral, Pallant House Gallery of 20th century British art, excellent shopping and eating, and the incomparable Chichester Festival Theatre where many West End productions start out. Nearby are equally historic Arundel with its Norman castle on the River Arun, West Wittering Beach, Easthead, the South Downs National Park, ancient Bosham village, and Portsmouth, the gateway to France and the Isle of Wight. Brighton is 45 mins, Gatwick, 50 mins and London, 1h 30m by direct train.
There is also a Studio in the garden for overflow guests - sleeps two plus air mattress.
