Ce que vous allez adorer dans ce logement
My home is a Grade 2 Heritage Listed historical barn, beautifully renovated, located on a hilltop with panoramic views over the Yorkshire Pennines.
Set over two floors, on the ground floor there is a generously sized open plan living, dining, kitchen. On the second, 3 double bedrooms, 2 en-suites, house bathroom and walk-in wardrobe. Office space can be made available if necessary.
Externally, there is a patio with spa and BBQ, a wooden terrace and garden making most of the uninterrupted views. There is also approx. 0.75 acres of enclosed field, with different areas to explore, and productive organic vegetable beds, cutting flowers and egg laying hens, which you can help yourself to (hens are self sufficient and I can arrange for them to be tended to when needed).
It is historically significant, previously the home of the infamous Cragg Vale Coiners gang in 18th Century, a story brought to life in the best selling novel and subsequent BBC period drama The Gallows Pole (Benjamin Myers).
It is a truly unique home, perched on top of a remote Natural England Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and nature reserve Broadhead Clough. Surrounded by acres of moorland, heaths and protected woodlands.
The views from the house have been described by one journalist "Through the patio doors, the family has one of the most impressive views in West Yorkshire. From 290m above sea level, you can see along the lush, v-shaped Upper Calder Valley and the rugged, smaller valleys leading into it."
Tastefully renovated in 2021, the home provides a delicate balance of traditional features with modern amenities, such as underfloor heating, premium satellite TV and high speed internet.
In addition to the home, we can also make available a 4x4 and our modern VW Transporter T6.1 campervan for exploring the British Isles.

Ce que vous allez adorer dans le quartier
Positioned centrally in the UK, I live in a remote hilltop in the heart of the Pennine Moors, famous for its walking, biking and industrial villages (Bronte Sisters, Wainright, Ted Hughes, Sylvia Plath). It is an isolated location, along a dirt track, 15 minutes from the nearest public road.
It is part located in the South Pennines Regional park, with miles and miles of protected moorland on the doorstep. Footsteps from the Pennine Way National Trail.
The local village is Cragg Vale, with 2 traditional pubs / restaurants, heritage church and many walking trails.
The nearest town is the bohemian Hebden Bridge, with its riverside setting, famed independent shops, bars, traditional pubs, restaurants and venues, a hotbed for alternate culture. This is a 30 minute walk over the moorland, or 20 minute drive. West Yorkshire towns of Halifax, Leeds, Haworth are within easy reach.
The nearest railway station is 3.5 miles, providing direct access to metropolitan cities of Manchester (34 mins), Leeds (46 mins), historic cities of York (1h 14 mins), Chester (1h 30 mins) and beyond. London and Edinburgh can be reached in 3h 30 mins. The Yorkshire Dales, Lake District, Peak District and North Yorkshire Moors national parks can be reached in day trips.
Grazing cattle and sheep roam the surrounding fields. It is a nature lovers paradise, providing home to mammals and birds, some of which are endangered.
