Ce que vous allez adorer dans ce logement
We have a separate guest house with its own full bathroom and refrigerator. Your stay here will be similar to upscale “glamping.” Guests will have access to the swimming pool, terrace, garden, secure parking, and laundry.
There is an outdoor two burner electric stove and sink as well. We also provide a microwave, a small oven with an air fryer, an Instant Pot multi cooker, electric skillet and griddle, coffee pot, electric kettle and all the pots, pans and dishes needed to prepare meals, except for a full size oven.
Laundry can be done in the main house laundry room.
NO SMOKING ALLOWED.
This guest house is available over holidays and possibly other dates when we are at the main house. We also have another guest room that could be made available, for additional points, if needed with full bath and a queen bed and its own entrance.
The location is ideal for the beginning or end of a trip to Costa Rica as we are about 35 minutes from SJO and great day trips. We are glad to help arrange transport to and from airport.
IMPORTANT: Remember, we live adjacent to a nature reserve in a country with over 70,000 types of insects so communal living is part of life here. If you have a phobia about bugs, critters or such, our place is not for you. We have our house sprayed a couple times of year, but it’s virtually impossible to keep the interior of our home 100 percent bug free.

We live in a small, gated community with exceptional views in a nice quiet town with lots of coffee farms. We are about an hour from the beach and easy day trips to great places to visit.
Please note that September and October can be rainy…we usually only get an hour or two of rain in the late afternoons…rarely does it rain all day. January through early April we can have very windy days with the wind lasting a day to several days.
We highly recommend renting a vehicle. An SUV or car are fine, but if you plan to explore more of Costa Rica, rent an SUV. You can also hire private drivers to take you wherever you like if you prefer not to navigate narrow, curvy roads.
Costa Rica has a multitude of terrain and microclimates for such a tiny country. One suggestion to our prospective guests is to maybe use our home for a base or book another location to explore and then end up at our place since we are close to the airport and our home is a great place to unwind and relax.
There are a number of inexpensive places to stay in La Fortuna to explore as an outing for a night or two as Tenorio National Park where Rio Celeste is located,
Zip lining, deep sea diving and tours to Isla Tortuga are less than an hour away.
We are about 1.5 hrs from La Paz Waterfall Gardens
Approximately 30 minutes from Starbucks only coffee farm, Alsacia
About 1.5 hours from Poas Volcano
About 1 hr from Jaco
About 1.5 hr to Natuwa Macaw Rescue
About 2.5 hours from La Fortuna/Arenal
About 1.5 hrs from Bajos del Toro and Catarata Dios Ríos (great waterfall and dinosaur animatronic park

Great weather pretty much all year. Costa Rica is a small country with many microclimates. You can Google Earth our neighborhood by searching for Lomas del Paraiso Atenas. Our year round temps range from 68 degrees (19 Celsius) at night to highs around 85 to 87 during the day (27 or 28 Celsius).
If you enjoy nature, bird watching, complete relaxation then this is your zen place.

PLEASE NOTE: While we love children, but our home is not child friendly. We have steep drop offs around our property, and floor to ceiling windows on the front of the house and glass coffee tables. Our pool is designed also for adults. If your children are 12 and above and well behaved you may reach out via private message to discuss. Our neighborhood is comprised of mainly over 55 retired residents who prefer peace and quiet so no partying or loud guests.

We are a retired low key couple. We live in small gated community and have decided to open our detached guest house to short term stays of minimum 32-3 nights for those seeking a quiet and relaxing place to explore the Central Valley of Costa Rica. We I’ll most likely be here if you are seeking to just use the guest house, but you will have full use of the patio, outdoors area, laundry and pool area.
We live in a quiet community so prefer guests who seek peace and tranquility.
We do have an outdoor cat who lives exclusively outdoors and sometimes is rarely even seen.
