Château d’Arc-en-Barrois is a former French royal hunting castle that was burned down in 1793 during the French revolution and rebuilt in 1844-45. Today, the château is a private residence owned by families from around the world who together have 50 apartments/rooms in their ownership. Some of these families rent out their apartments/rooms when vacant, offering a unique opportunity to experience the grandeur and history of this magnificent castle.
Located 2½ hours’ drive southeast of Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris, France; 3 hours west of Basel, Switzerland and 3 hours drive north of Lyon, the château is the perfect "pit stop" point for travelers from the UK and the Netherlands driving along the A5 towards the Côte d'Azur. Calais is only 4h:45 mins away, and Nice is 7h:45 mins away.
The village of Arc-en-Barrois, just outside the main entrance of the château, has everything you need for a comfortable stay, including a baker, a supermarket, two restaurants, a pharmacy, and a gas/petrol station.
For those who love horses, a stable with 20 horses is located just outside the walls of the château, offering trail riding (promenade) in the park and forest or riding lessons.
