Ce que vous allez adorer dans ce logement
We live in Inverness, the capital of the Scottish Highlands. Our home is contemporary and modern as you can see from the photos.
+++PLEASE READ TO THE END, thank you+++
Our GUEST ROOM FOR TWO is offered to fellow exchangers who'd like a short stay in the Highlands in JULY AND AUGUST ONLY. We don't usually travel during these months so we offer short hospitality exchanges (2-4 nights) whilst we're at home. You would have use of our guest room for two people, shared kitchen and shared living space as well as your own shower room. Our guest room is on the first floor - please note that the guest shower room is downstairs. There is a super-comfortable double bed 140x140. You would have full use of our kitchen which has an island - great for socialising. We'll make a space for you in the fridge if you want to cook, and some cupboard space for provisions. We have two living rooms so there's plenty of space for everyone and there are folding doors that open onto our south-facing garden (see photos). We can offer a parking space for your vehicle.
We will interact as much or as little as you wish and we'll be delighted to share our local knowledge and maybe a dram or two! It's a privilege to get to know our guests this way, so if you'd like to join us at home you would be very welcome. This is why we do not offer one-night stays - it's not long enough to get to know each other!
We can't promise we'll say 'yes' to every request because we have various commitments, but please feel free to ask. Our house is on Firthview Road.

Ce que vous allez adorer dans le quartier
Inverness is a perfect base from which to tour the Highlands. Our house is close to the Caledonian Canal and we are just 20 minutes walk from Inverness town centre, or 10 minutes by bus - the bus stop is right across the road from our house. There's a huge amount to see and do in the area, here are just a few ideas (our house manual contains more information)
GOLF
There are lots of excellent golf courses in our area
John's club is called Kings Club, Inverness - less than five minutes drive!
Royal Dornoch course - less than one hour's drive
Castle Stewart course (Scottish Open venue) - 15 minutes drive
Nairn Dunbar course - 20 minutes drive
WHISKY
Don't miss The Malt Room on Church Street - a cosy bar where you can enjoy a 'tasting flight'. There's an independent whisky shop on the other side of the alley.
Our nearest distillery is Tomatin - 15 minutes drive
Glen Ord Singleton - 20 minutes drive
Speyside region, full of whisky distilleries - 45 minutes drive
Dalmore Distillery - 20 minutes drive
TRADITIONAL MUSIC
You can't get better than MacGregor's Bar on Church Street where they have a traditional music session on Sunday afternoons. Great conversation and superb music is guaranteed. Also recommended is Hootenanny, and the Highlander Bar.
HIKING & TOURING
Hiking is a very popular pastime in the highlands. Have a look at www.walkhighlands.co.uk for more information. We are also on the 'North Coast 500' driving route which takes in the most incredible scenery all around the north coast of Scotland (the northwest is the best part!).
Cairngorms National Park (hiking, cycling, riding, water sports) - 45 minutes drive
Ullapool - less than one hour drive
Isle of Skye - 2.5 hours drive
HISTORY, SCENERY, MYTHS & LEGENDS
Our area is rich in history with castles, ancient standing stones, fortifications, battlegrounds, and everything in between. The great mystery of Loch Ness is just a few minutes drive away - spend a day monster hunting aboard a cruise from Jacobite Loch Ness.
Culloden Battlefield - 10 minutes drive
Urquhart Castle - 20 minutes drive
Loch Ness - 15 minutes drive (there are cruises and tours available)
Cawdor Castle - 15 minutes drive
Caledonian Canal - five minutes walk
We have a cosy little pub just 10 minutes walk along the canalside where you can enjoy real ales and wonderful views from their outside terrace. There are lots of great restaurants and bars in the town centre (20 minutes walk) but please note many of them are booked well in advance so please check availability.

Le mot de la fin
We are more than happy to discuss hospitality exchanges for members who would like to stay with us while we're at home in July and August. Availability is shown in blue and can change depending on our commitments so feel free to check back from time to time. Please don't request hospitality stays during the rest of the year.
