The two bedroom apartment is on the third floor of a listed building in the centre of Carcassonne, in the Bastide St Louis . All rooms, except the bathroom, have french doors that can be thrown open to the view and night air as the apartment is not overlooked . The doors to the second bedroom lead to a balcony overlooking the historic rooftops. Here you can sit in total privacy and drink a local wine while enjoying the view over ancient rooftops of Carcassonne. The bathroom is what is locally called “ Italian style” with no bath and a walk-in shower. There is a separate toilet. There is separate kitchen and a combined lounge/ dining area . The apartment is on the third floor and is reached by a wide staircase from the lobby . There is a large entry room which could also be used for remote work office and has good internet .

The apartment is in central Carcassonne, one block from Place Carnot, within the ancient walls of the Bastide St Louis. It is right next door to the tourist office and walking distance to both the train station and buses. The town has some great walks to the famous Cite ( castle) , along the river and near the vineyards . Place Carnot , one block away, has a thrice weekly market, largest on Saturday. There is a local theatre and numerous festivals. Restaurants, patisseries, cheese and wine shops, and boutique stores are right on your doorstep . The supermarket is a couple of minutes walk. There is a local bus to several small villages and the train to Toulouse . The train station is also a TGV stop . Carcassonne has a local airport with Ryanair flights and an international airport in Toulouse .
There is also a local sandy swimming beach at the lake , via the local bus or short drive .
