Nestled in the heart of a quiet, picturesque village in the foothills of the French Pyrenées, my four-bed village house is a charming haven. I have renovated this former hotel and cafe while retaining all its traditional Gallic charm. It has 4 spacious bedrooms, a large sitting-room and a lovely French kitchen with a long (original) table (where cafe patrons used to play cards). The house would suit groups or just a small family or couple. It is comfortable and quiet, and has all modern amenities. Perfect for a dose of French village charm and proper R&R.

Rivel is a small village in the foothills of the Pyrenees, which are an easy 45 minute drive away. It is surrounded by green hills, forests, and overlooked by a beautiful 11th century chapel. There are no longer any shops in Rivel but you can order your daily bread from the Post Office next door to the Ancien Hotel, and Chalabre, with shops, pharmacy, bank and other amenities, is a 5K walk, drive or cycle away (along a quiet converted railway). It's wonderful cycling, walking and running country, and also perfect for anyone who just wants to kick back and enjoy the peace and quiet. History buffs will love exploring the local Cathar castles; foodies will love the amazing weekly markets in Mirepoix, Espezel and Lavelanet.
