Ce que vous allez adorer dans ce logement
The home is beachfront, which includes refreshing offshore breezes during the day.
The beach consists of 3 miles of virtually deserted beach between two rivers. Low tide leaves an extremely wide beach and shallow water for boogie boarding and surfing, as well as swimming at all times. Beach is brown (due to silt from local rivers), and ranges from silty to coarse sand, and gravel in spots, and water is not crystal clear near shore. The water is very safe, with no undertows.
There are no Pets to care for.
Although the house is 140 s.m., the covered terrace outside adds another 140 s.m. to the living space under the roof.
Included in your stay at no additional cost:
- regular staff include a gardener / handyman, and pool and house caretaker who each make periodic visits
- Public (mains) water and trash service
- Utilities (internet and electric)
Required expenses you will reimburse:
- regular staff maid service, $25 weekly
- propane (refills at your expense $6).
You will need to water the lawn and gardens when there is insufficient rain (the gardener will also help with this, but your attention to watering the yard is still necessary during a dry spell).

Ce que vous allez adorer dans le quartier
The home is about 5 km from the Puerto Armuelles city center, which has daily farmer markets, groceries, banks, and other basic shopping. Longer distance drives give greater shopping and dining opportunities. Local food is generally very inexpensive.
Ability to speak Spanish is a plus, but not essential if you are willing to make an effort to be a friendly gringo. In Panama, you are considered rude if you don't greet everyone you see with a small greeting ("Hola" or a "Buenos").
There are about 11 other expat gringo households in the neighborhood; otherwise, the neighborhood is mostly local subsistence-level Panamanians, some of whom fish from the beach next to the home.
Puerto's history includes its beginnings as a company town built by United Fruit Company, better known as "Chiquita Banana." There is a vast inventory of architecture here from that era, starting in the 1920s, with Carribean style, culminating in the executive's estate homes in the neighborhood of Las Palmas.
There is an 80 acre forest reserve on the edge of Puerto, with hiking trails, birds (including toucans) and monkeys.
The hot-spots of Boquete and Volcan are a 2 hour's drive away; the Costa Rica border and free-trade duty free zone is 30 minutes away.

Le mot de la fin
Power outages are common, but there is a whole-house generator for longer outages. Most have been under 5 minutes, but occasionally they are longer, if a tree takes out a power line. The internet is connected to a UPS, so the internet will remain active for a few hours during longer outages.
After hard rains, the city will shut off the mains water to allow the silt in the rivers to settle out. This is usually not a problem, as the house has a large tank from which to draw domestic water. However, during water outages, heavy use of water (e.g. laundry) will draw down the reserves, leaving less for showers, toilets, personal hygiene, and household cleaning, so you'll need to be mindful.
Like most of Latin America, and parts of Europe, the home is on a septic system, so you should not flush anything that hasn't been eaten first, including paper products.
The 'double put up bed' is a Murphy Bed with a standard double mattress.
There is also an exercise bicycle should you care to stay fit indoors; it is in the room with the Murphy Bed, so you will need to move the bicycle in order to use the bed.
The 'dedicated workspace' is a desk in the Master Bedroom.
