Ce que vous allez adorer dans ce logement
Our house is our dream home! A hidden mid-century gem in the mountain foothills of NW Tucson built in the early 1960s by a noted architect, it is very quiet and peaceful, yet walkable to grocery stores and restaurants. Situated on a roomy acre, it is very private and features many citrus trees, palo verde and mesquite trees, and a dazzling array of cacti and Sonoran plants all around.
We have beautiful desert scenery and views on all sides, and the most incredible sunsets! Lots of beautiful walks, including nearby trailheads. You might see roadrunners, coyotes, desert hares, families of quail, and even a pack of javalina on your evening walks. We also have several outdoor patios with seating and lighting where you can enjoy being outdoors, including a courtyard centered around a giant old tree, and mountain and sunset views by the pool.
Tucson is absolutely glorious in the cooler months, and when it gets hot out here in the desert we are grateful for our sparkling pool! It is usually warm enough to swim from May through September.
Our home features two primary suites, one with a king sized bed and the other with two twin XL single beds which can be combined into a king size bed* A third bedroom is set up as an office and music room (can sleep one person) There are also two traditional Japanese floor mattresses that can be set up for two additional beds.
The home has three bathrooms (in the process of restoring them to their original mid-century glory), two with showers and one with a shower and bathtub.
I am an avid cook so the kitchen has all mod cons and everything you could need to make your meals at home, including an air fryer, pizza oven, electric kettle, double stove, electric cooktop, various types of coffee makers, and an outdoor grill located outside the kitchen door. Here you will also find a garden for fresh veggies and herbs, as well as outdoor seating/dining. There are two nearby farmer's markets each week where you can shop for and sample local produce and foods.
*on occasion, one primary bedroom will be closed off for storage and unavailable for guest use; please inquire for your stay.

Ce que vous allez adorer dans le quartier
Tucson is a UNESCO City of Gastronomy food site and home to the largest international gem show each winter. It is a little over an hour’s drive to Nogales, Mexico to the south, and 90 minutes north to Phoenix, Arizona. We often make the drive to Los Angeles, stopping in Palm Springs on the way. People visit a lot from Colorado, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico, and California, all drivable from Tucson, if you wish to have a homebase for exploratory western drives. A short drive south of Tucson also brings you to the famed Sonoita/Patagonia/Elgin wine country (many films shot here) as well as the historic and stunning old mining town of Bisbee.
Downtown Tucson features the University of Arizona, beautiful old buildings and historic neighborhoods, plenty of museums and places of interest to visit, as well as many excellent restaurants, markets, bars, and coffee shops. Plenty of live music and cultural activities as well. We have many recommendations.
We live in NW Tucson, south of beautiful Catalina State Park, accessible to the freeway, direct surface streets to downtown, and plenty of public transportation. There is beautiful scenic hiking right down our street; the closest parks are the Iris Dewhirst and Finger Rock trailheads. Tucson is also well known for its birding, with many beautiful native species to note.
It is also fun to drive up Mt. Lemmon where it is always 20 degrees colder (snow skiing in winter), passing through as many ecological zones as you'd see driving all the way from Mexico to Canada, but in only an hour. There is a wonderful app produced by the University of Arizona which narrates the scenic drive up the mountain.
Our immediate neighborhood is quiet and friendly, with lots of scenic walking and cycling trails nearby. We are close to several parks and there is even horseback riding behind our home within walking distance as our property backs right up to the grounds of a lovely resort; their amenities can be accessed as well.

Le mot de la fin
We have a small, trained, non-shedding service dog (Bichon Frise) that lives and travels with us and can accept other animals on a case by case basis, provided they are house trained.
Please note that our historic home has original features (exposed brick and metal, some uneven flagstone and brick walking surfaces, open/unfenced pool decking) and is not childproof, and therefore is not suitable for small children but best for older children and adults.
Sometimes it is possible to arrange a car to be available for your use which can be parked in the private garage.
If the calendar does not show your preferred dates, feel free to message.
