Ce que vous allez adorer dans ce logement
My home is a light and airy, renovated 2-bedroom apartment on the 3rd floor of our 10 storey building in Kangaroo Point, an inner city suburb of Brisbane (Meeanjin). It’s a delightful oasis that takes full advantage of our beautiful sub-tropical indoor/outdoor lifestyle! My home is perfect for singles like me, or couples. It is located in a safe, secure building with just 35 units which are about 70% owner occupied and the building has an elevator, so no stairs if mobility is an issue. I love living in our community within the building and also our inner city neighbourhood. We’re a very friendly lot!
My apartment’s main living space is open plan to incorporate a lounge/TV area as well as dining/work table, island bench and large kitchen area.
There is a balcony off the main living area, overlooking our sparkling pool, gardens, tennis court and BBQ area. This area offers expansive views towards the city skyline and is a wonderful place to relax on the outdoor couches at any time of day. I never tire of the changing views!
I have 2 bedrooms, each with queen beds and built in wardrobes. There is also a 2nd smaller balcony off the main bedroom which is a great relaxing space in the morning for a cuppa or a read. There is a main bathroom with shower and separate bath. A separate toilet and separate laundry with washer and dryer also make it an easy apartment to live in. In addition, there is an ensuite bathroom with shower and toilet off the main bedroom.
All main areas have ceiling fans and there is a reverse cycle air conditioner in the main living space. However I find by opening the balcony doors I enjoy cooling cross breezes due to the elevated position.
If you are musically inclined, I have an electric piano and acoustic guitar, as well as a turntable and a selection of vinyl LP’s (mostly from the 70’s and 80’s).
I do have a car space in a secure basement carpark, but that will most likely not be available. However, there is on site visitor parking available on ground level.
For transparency, there is a road to one side of our property so there can be some traffic noise, but a line of trees at the boundary of our land buffers this noise quite effectively. I don’t find it a problem at all.
I love my home and I’m sure you will too.

Ce que vous allez adorer dans le quartier
My home is located in a suburb that is almost part of Brisbane City but is separated by our meandering Brisbane River (Maiwar) so we enjoy both city and suburban vibes.
It is only a short 15 minute drive from the international and domestic airports, or you can catch an air train to the city and it’s a short bus, taxi or uber ride from there.
Kangaroo Point is on a peninsula on the river south of the city and connects to the city via the historic Story Bridge. It’s a fairly high density suburb with apartment buildings but never feels overpopulated or closed in.
You can walk or cycle and also drive or catch a bus over the Story Bridge to the city or Fortitude Valley (known as The Valley) which is our thriving city nightlife area. There is also a couple of cinemas in this area and music venues where you may catch a great band or artist if you’re lucky. We also have Brisbane’s Jazz Club in Kangaroo Point right on the river.
If you’re adventurous, you can also climb! the Story Bridge structure on a guided climb to gain spectacular views of Brisbane, the river and its surrounds.
We have a newly opened (Dec 2024) 'green' bridge which connects Kangaroo Point to Brisbane City and is a fantastic asset for walking, cycling or scootering between these 2 points. On the city side it connects directly to our City Botanic Gardens which are wonderful to stroll around. There are also markets held there every Sunday morning. Viewing platforms on the bridge allow great views and shortly there will also be a restaurant and coffee shop opening on the city side of the bridge. If you want to visit or shop in the city this is a new active way to get there in just 20 mins walking time from my place.
We have a fantastic river ferry system – our City Cats and Kitty Cats - which connect up and down the river. It’s a wonderfully leisurely way to explore the city from the river and maybe hop on and off at various points along the way.
The closest City Cat terminal is Mowbray Park at the end of our street. The closest Kitty Cat terminal is at Dockside a 10 minute walk away.
There is also bus transport very close by, all of which is within a short walk from my apartment. Our State Government has recently made all public transport options extremely affordable with 50c fares on any mode of public transport! So you can afford to travel outside of the immediate area for an extremely low cost if you choose.
Brisbane city also has a scooter and cycle hire scheme in the inner city suburbs.
Also within walking distance of my apartment are beautiful green spaces such as Mowbray Park, Raymond Park and Captain Burke Park to relax in, walk around or maybe enjoy a picnic or BBQ.
And with the many easy ways to get around, Kangaroo Point is also accessible to other landmark Brisbane precincts such as Southbank Parklands with its free pools, sandy beach, restaurants, boardwalk and green spaces, and often free entertainment. Southbank also houses our QPAC performing arts complex, Museum, Art Galleries and State Library. Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary can also be accessed by boat from here or is about a 20 minute drive.
Howard Smith Wharves is another popular precinct just across the Story Bridge where you can enjoy great bars and restaurants and fabulous views across to the city which is spectacular at night. A great place for a cocktail with a view!
There is a great pub (Shaftston Hotel) just across the road from my apartment which offers affordable meals, indoor or outdoor undercover dining, pool tables, a TAB and pokies. It's a great atmosphere!
Also within a 20 minute walk is the historic Story Bridge Hotel built in 1886 and operating ever since. It has a variety of dining options and spaces within the hotel. It's also great for watching big sporting events such as AFL and NRL Grand Finals!
Our agreeable weather all year round provides plenty of outdoor cafes in the immediate area to walk to and enjoy a coffee and snack, or maybe a sundowner at sunset.
As you can see, everything is within easy reach and there is plenty to explore in the local area or venture further afield.

Le mot de la fin
Mt Cootha is a short 20 minute drive and is the highest point in Brisbane to view the city and surrounds. The Mt Cootha Botanic Gardens are also in this area as is the Brisbane Planetarium.
With fantastic summers and mild winters, it’s a perfect opportunity to explore our world famous beautiful surf beaches to the north (Sunshine Coast) and south (Gold Coast) of Brisbane.
If you love theme parks, an hour’s drive south of Brisbane on the way to the Gold Coast are the best in Australia – MovieWorld, SeaWorld, DreamWorld, Wet and Wild and Outback Australia Spectacular will get the adrenaline going!
The Sunshine Coast to the north about an hour’s drive is a bit more laid back also with beautiful beaches and many relaxed cafes and restaurants. Tourist attractions include Australia Zoo, Aussie World, The Big Pineapple and The Ginger Factory.
The surrounding hinterland is also home to stunning National Parks, many with rainforests and waterfalls and are perfect for bush walking and hiking and home to abundant birdlife, flora and fauna. These areas include Mount Tambourine, Binna Burra and O’Reillys to the south and Maleny and Montville to the north.
We also have some amazing island destinations close by that are worth exploring if you have more time. Beautiful Stradbroke Island and Moreton Island are a short boat ride from Brisbane with a laid back atmosphere and natural beauty.
Further afield to the north is the World Heritage listed Fraser Island (K’gari) which is the largest sand island in the world. It encompasses freshwater dune lakes, rainforest and dramatic scenery changes. It is also home to the Dingo, considered native to Australia.
There is so much to see and do here in Brisbane and the surrounding areas, why not come and explore?
