Ce que vous allez adorer dans ce logement
Some walks are worth it.. and this is one of them.
Our family home is nestled in the NZ native forest, based in an idyllic and historically significant community and sitting just on the fringes of Wellington city.
This charming three-bedroom two storey bungalow, built in the timeless California bungalow style, is part of a renowned architectural precinct designed in the early 20th century. There is no street access to the home, but once up, the home offers a truly unique opportunity to experience a slice of New Zealand’s architectural and social heritage. The arrangement of the houses around a communal area fosters a sense of community that is both rare and cherished by those fortunate enough to call this place home.
We treasure our house as te whare āio - a peaceful, calm restorative space for visiting whānau (family) and friends. From the tranquil greenery to the steep access roads, the area and home embody a peaceful retreat, idilically safe for children. You will wake to the sound of tui, bellbirds and in some cases see kākā right outside your window, while still being well-connected to the hustle and bustle of the city.
Our home has retained much of its original character, with tasteful and sustainability focused updates that ensure modern comfort without detracting from the historical charm. The open-plan kitchen, designed by Jack who is a chef, flows seamlessly into the vegetable and cottage garden, making it ideal for outdoor dining or simply soaking up the serenity of the native bush that envelops the court.
Our family has committed to living more simply and sustainably. We purchase the majority of our supplies from bulk food centres to minimise plastic and waste, minimise the use of chemicals or pesticides, and have committed to using mostly organic natural fabrics in our linen. Reusing, composting and recycling are key to keeping our home in balance with the world.
Come stay and immerse yourself in this special corner of Wellington’s history.

Ce que vous allez adorer dans le quartier
The layout encourages neighbourly connections and a slower pace of life, perfect for travellers who appreciate not just a place to stay, but a place to belong, even if just for a little while.
Wilton’s Otari-Wilton’s Bush is a must-see, featuring native forest and plant collections—perfect for nature walks. Wadestown, with its historic homes, also provides a cozy, village-like atmosphere with great takeaways, two cafes and a local continence store.
Other nature lovers attractions within easy access include Ahu-Marangi Hill, Mt Kaukau, Zealandia and the Skyline trail.
We’re just a short 20minute drive or 30minute bus ride from the vibrant Wellington CBD. You can also walk “down the hill” and be in the middle of town in about 45minutes. An Uber to the stadium/Ferry or the city is about $10.
If you’re drawn to a lifestyle where heritage meets contemporary living, and where the community is an essential part of the experience, then our home will resonate with you.
