Ce que vous allez adorer dans ce logement
We built the house (and pool) ourselves from the ground up when we took a year sabbatical in 2012.
We poured our sweat and souls into designing and building it and it was our main residence for a couple of years until we moved to the UK. It is now the August-only home away from home for us and our 4 boys.
The house sits on a big plot of land and is oriented so that you can mostly see the trees that border the land.
On the ground floor, you'll find a 100m2 open-plan kitchen, dining and living room that opens straight onto the 150m2 terrasse with différent seating areas and a big table under a pergola for alfresco dining, as well as the semi infinity pool (8x4m, 1.2m deep).
There is a double bedroom on the ground floor with en-suite wetroom.
Upstairs there is a master suite with a giant 1.8m bed, dressing area and en-suite with a bath. The family bathroom has a shower cubicle, bath and double sink. There is a separate WC on each floor. There are 2 further double bedrooms (one has an extra double sofabed) and the playroom has a single bed with an extra trundle pull out single.

Ce que vous allez adorer dans le quartier
Mézens is a friendly, quiet village, with a train station 1km away to get you to the beautiful historic cities of Toulouse or Albi in 30 minutes.
It is nestled in the Gaillac wine region which is great for foodies, and the rolling green hills are perfect for hikers and cyclists.
Our neighbours are all lovely and keen to help. The 2 teenage daughters of the family next door can offer babysitting services.
The local farmer sells local produce at least once a week in the village square that is less than 5 minutes walk away from the house, and the two nearby small towns of St Sulpice sur Tarn and Rabastens both have big farmers market weekly all year round, as well as supermarkets, bakeries and restaurants.

The house is available for families with children (we have raised our 4 boys building this house) but we do appreciate that some of the design features might seem scary to some parents:
-The stairs (see picture) have no handrail or bannister. They are wider than normal and the incline is milder than average to make them more comfortable, but some little ones get scared of "the hole" so they will need to be supervised around them.
-The pool has an alarm that makes it legal but there is no barrier around it so non swimmers should not be left to play in the garden without supervision.
Because the house is super insulated, there is no central heating per se in the house. We have installed underfloor heating and heated towel rails in the bathrooms, and there is a wood pellets burner that gives out amazing warmth, but it needs to be "fed" a 15kg bag of krispies every day. These cost 8€ each...
We ask for a 50€ contribution towards cleaning costs for non-reciprocal exchanges, to be left in cash on the kitchen table when you leave.
