We love our little piece of paradise and are very grateful to live in such a stunning area.
Our home is a modern house with lots of glass and marvellous views across the vineyards to the islands in the bay. It is north-facing, so gets sun all day long, with a covered terrace around the entire house, for shade and wind-protection. A pleasant refreshment awaits in the 20 metre long pool. The pool is heated using a capiliary system on the roof and is warm in the summer, but we don’t heat it in the winter.
Our property comprises 4.54 hectares (11.2 acres) of land with a garden to relax in, an old vineyard and a beautiful rainforest where kiwis live, which you can hear at night but also see with a red light. Our paradise is also blessed with many other birds that contribute to the relaxing experience with their song.
Dogs and cats are not allowed due to the Kiwis living here. They require special training in our area to ensure that kiwis are protected. Therefore, even though we love animals, we are unable to accept pet exchanges.

Ce que vous allez adorer dans le quartier
We live in a quiet and peaceful neighbourhood about 15 mins out of Russell, a beautiful little harbour town with a history which is hard to find in New Zealand. The Bay of Islands is the sailing capital of New Zealand, and the Islands themselves are mostly managed as conservation sites. The larger islands can be visted by tour boats out of Russell, and are great to walk around to enjoy the rare birds and plants. There is a good chance to see the Bays dolphins on these trips as well. If you like fishing the Bay has charters running out to catch snapper, yellowfin and bluefin tuna or you can take a relaxing sailtrip around the islands.
Russell has some great places to eat with Italian, Indian and Thai restaraunts but our favourite place Sage, is just at the bottom of our drive at Paroa Vineyard. Sage is one of New Zealands most renowned restraunts. The restraunt sources the best local fish, seafood, meat and vegetables to create incredible dishes. It also does wine tastings with their own wines. It’s a great spot with views out across the vineyard to the sea.

We use rainwater and can capture 75,000l of water on the property. This is triple fitered and goes through a UV purifier as well. The benefit is that it tastes great, having no chlorine added, but we do need to be careful in a dry summer with water consumption.
When we travel between home exchanges we are unable able to clean our house and pool. Therefore we need to get someone in to make sure that everyone will be able to enjoy a clean house and pool. That’s the reason why we have to charge a cleaning fee of 200 NZD. We hope you understand that.
