Ce que vous allez adorer dans ce logement
Our home is a warm, modern midcentury sanctuary, remodeled by its architect owner (Mike) in 2020. It is bright and airy, thoughtfully decorated and full of plants and art. The bedrooms, living and dining rooms, kitchen, outdoor patio and lawn have gorgeous views of the SF Bay and beyond. The home is two levels, with three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a den, living and dining rooms, and the kitchen on the first floor. On the lower level is is a walk-in basement family room, guest bedroom and bathroom. Both levels open onto yards or garden areas. Our kitchen is well equipped and opens onto an outdoor dining area for warm evenings. Terraced yard areas include a small basketball court, a hot tub, vegetable garden, lawn area, hammock, and planted zones.
Ce que vous allez adorer dans le quartier
We live in the Piedmont Pines neighborhood of Oakland. Piedmont Pines in nestled in the Oakland hills, offering sweeping views, privacy, easy (walking or biking or driving) access to regional parks, hiking and biking trails, while also being a quick drive to downtown Oakland, Berkeley, and to public transit into San Francisco. We get to live amidst trees and beauty, yet so close to dynamic urban areas! There is a small shopping district called Montclair Village just a 4 minutes drive "down the hill" which has grocery stores, restaurants, coffee shops, a farmers market, and more. We also have a wonderful community of neighbors and friends...and often see deer and wild turkeys, hear owls, and watch birds.
Le mot de la fin
Our electric car can be made available if needed.
Depending on the time of day and where you go in San Francisco, driving can take 30 minutes on up to 50 minutes.
The shorter drive time is for mid day when people are already at work, and for going to central places like downtown (SF Museum of Modern Art), Ferry Plaza Building, Chinatown, Pier 39, and the Mission neighborhood. Also the closer side of Golden Gate Park and Haight Ashbury.
The longer drive time is for places further out in the city like the Presidio, Golden Gate Bridge, Lands End/Baker Beach, Ocean Beach, and Crissy Field.
There are wonderful non city beaches within an hour: Rodeo Beach (just on other side of Golden Gate Bridge), Muir Beach, and Tennessee Cove (hike in).
Also, Point Reyes National Sea Shore’s Limantour beach is 1.5 hours.
Alameda Island (bay side) beach is a 15 minute drive away.
We love taking the ferry from Jack London Square here in Oakland to Pier 39 in SF and going to the Musee Mecanique (antique pinball and arcade games). You can also take it to/from the Ferry Plaza building for a nice lunch before or after Pier 39.
Rockridge BART Station is the closest to our house at 6 minutes drive away. BART into the city is about 45 minutes door to door; the ferry is longer but a lovely experience in and of itself.
