Ce que vous allez adorer dans ce logement
Our home has two bedrooms: One bedroom has a queen size bed and could also fit our twin size air mattress although it would be snug. The other bedroom has a toddler bed and could also fit a pack-and-play portable crib or we have a foam mattress that can go on top of the rug if you have a bigger kid (we've used it for sleepovers!). The living room has a small couch that only a small-ish child would find comfortable to sleep on, but also has room for our full size air mattress. We've had Couchsurfers/Be Welcome guests and visiting family members sleep in the living room - it's cozy but can work especially if you are out and about during the day. There is one bathroom that also houses our cat's litter box. There is a well-equipped kitchen and we have a laundry room with a washer & dryer. In the fenced-in backyard there are kids toys like a tricycle, scooter, etc and a deck with a glass table that comfortably fits 4-5 people. There's a sunshade over the table and it's a nice place to eat! There's also a meyer lemon tree that produces fruit most of the year. This is not a luxurious home compared to what I've seen offered, and we are not minimalists. The house is clean but we have a lot of stuff for our hobbies, books, etc.
We have a car that seats 5 people and are open to discussing car swapping. However a car is not necessary to enjoy a stay, we are very close to the train station (BART) and buses. Very easy to get to/from Berkeley and San Francisco on BART.

I think our neighborhood offers the best of both worlds. Easy access to San Francisco (many people who live around here work in San Francisco) and other places in the Bay Area, but also quiet (other than the sound of the train, which could bother some people if they are not used to it / light sleepers) with access to nature. We are very close to Berkeley and the university. Our neighborhood is easy/short walking distance from everything one might need such as grocery stores, cafes, restaurants, movie theater, bakeries, farmers markets, etc. Within walking distance there is a cemetery that is lovely for a stroll and has beautiful views of the bay. There are also a several regional parks nearby where you can hike for hours. We have a lot of birds and squirrels in the neighborhood, I've seen owls, skunks, racoons, and deer at night. There is a playground on the same block with multiple larger parks and playgrounds nearby. We are one block away from the public library. Our town also has a public swimming pool and splash park open seasonally.
We have all the "gear" a child would need from ages infant to 4 years, more books than any kid needs, toys, etc.
The problem here is that there is too much to do and not enough time! I have a huge list of things we love to do. I grew up in the area myself so I love introducing my family as well as friends to some of the things I loved as kid such as the two botanic gardens in Berkeley, the steam trains, the Lawrence Hall of Science up the hill, Blake Garden (with big koi pond and "secret" mirror), the Adventure Playground at the Berkeley Marina, Fairyland in Oakland, I could go on and on. Three blocks away there is an indoor playspace great for rainy days called Gymboree (for babies, toddlers, and little kids). Tunnel Tops park, cable car ride, dim sum in SF (that's my daughter's favorite outing to SF but I could suggest at least a dozen other itineraries).
Easy access to Marin County by car - just a 20 minute drive to San Rafael, easy to get to Sonoma County and Napa County as well. I looooove Marin and Sonoma and have countless family-friends recs there too depending on your interests.
El Cerrito is very diverse and we have many great restaurants including Nepalese, Mexican, Italian, Korean, regional Chinese, pizza, sushi, Thai, Vietnamese, etc etc (this is just within a short walk from our house). We also have a large Asian shopping center with a variety of great restaurants including a killer new dumpling place.
