Ce que vous allez adorer dans ce logement
Our home is a bright, welcoming house in a peaceful neighbourhood in Akureyri, the capital of North Iceland. Surrounded by friendly neighbours, birch trees, and views of the mountains, it's a cosy and relaxing place to enjoy Icelandic nature in all seasons.
The house is a single-story house with a large private garden. On sunny days, we enjoy coffee or watch the snow fall in winter. During summer solstices, the sun is in our garden around the clock. The windows let in lots of natural light, and the atmosphere is calm and homely. From our windows, we have the most glorious sunsets.
Our neighbourhood is quiet but well-connected. It is within walking distance of the town centre, swimming pool, museums, and cafés. A short drive takes you to hiking trails, ski slopes in winter, or whale watching in nearby fjords.
We love and care deeply for this home. I work in the north and use the house very frequently, and it reflects my art and taste. We always treat others’ homes with the same respect.
We’re looking to exchange with someone who appreciates peace, charm, and the beauty of Icelandic nature.

Ce que vous allez adorer dans le quartier
Guests will love how peaceful and friendly our neighbourhood is. It’s in one of Akureyri's oldest and most charming parts, filled with character, trees, and colourful houses. You’ll wake up to birdsong in the summer and enjoy magical snowy views in the winter. And some nights, you have to step outside and look up, and magical Northern lights are dancing in the sky. During spring and fall, you will probably see a lot of rainbows. We have the most glorious sunsets from our windows, but I recommend driving 5 minutes north from my house. Nature lovers will be especially charmed by the nearby Krossanesborgir nature reserve. It offers stunning views over the fjord, peaceful walking trails, and spectacular sunsets — especially magical in the late summer and autumn. During the middle of summer, you will see the sun touch the ocean and come up again.
This protected area is rich in birdlife, making it a favourite among birdwatchers. You can often spot Arctic terns, redshanks, and skuas in their natural habitat. The plant life is equally fascinating, with hardy northern flora, mosses, and low shrubs that change beautifully with the seasons and some plants that are protected and very rare in Europe.
Whether you enjoy quiet walks, taking photos of the sunset, or being surrounded by nature, this hidden gem is a favourite spot for locals and visitors. I could spend hours there.
If you are a town person, we’re just a short walk from the town centre, where you’ll find cosy cafés, local bakeries, bookstores, museums, and the famous Akureyri geothermal swimming pool. Despite being so close to everything, our street is quiet and calm – perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring.
Guests also appreciate how easy it is to explore the natural surroundings from here – mountains, fjords, and walking paths are all within reach.
