Ce que vous allez adorer dans ce logement
Our home is nestled in the Atlantic Rainforest, 15 km from Paraty in the direction of Rio. The property spans 20,000 square meters and includes a river that adds a natural soundtrack to your stay—gentle in the dry season, louder after rainfall. Across the river lies a lush mountain view, creating a peaceful and secluded atmosphere.
We moved to this home in 2013 after selling our first house in Paraty. We love the tranquility and privacy. The bird life is spectacular. During the pandemic, we spent 18 months living and working remotely here and even extended the kitchen by three meters. The house is accessible via a 3 km dirt road—easily driven without a 4x4. It’s an ideal escape into nature while staying close to Paraty’s historic charm.
The Main House
You enter through a large wooden gate. From there reach the garage. It takes a tiled stairway of 20 steps to reach the main level. Inside, you’ll find a bright and breezy open-plan layout with a living room (featuring a sofa bed), a guest bedroom, a bathroom, and an open kitchen and dining area with seating for eight. The kitchen is great for cooking together, with a large wooden countertop and direct access to the pool area.
Next to the pool is a covered veranda (45 sqm) where we love to have breakfast. On clear days, you can even spot the sea in the distance. This shaded outdoor dining area with comfortable seating for eight, includes hammocks, and a pool filled with fresh well water—like the rest of the house.
The Guest House
A short walk (30 meters) from the pool and down 15 steps brings you to a smaller house where we sleep. One room has a single bed (a second can be added), and features a large glass window overlooking the garden. The second bedroom has a double bed and also looks onto the garden, where a distinctive 3-meter red wall marks the far end. The shared bathroom has a gas-heated shower—handy during the occasional power outage—and a large window with a garden view.
We’re happy to answer any questions, and we hope you’ll enjoy our home as much as we do!

Ce que vous allez adorer dans le quartier
The neighborhood is peaceful and perfect for nature lovers. You can hike about 30 minutes uphill to an incredible viewpoint overlooking the sea and the islands around Paraty—or continue all the way to Pedra Marcela. Bird watching along the track is a wonderful experience. The dirt road is also popular with cyclists who enjoy off-road adventures. We used to ride our horses here, though now we mostly ride in the round pen behind the pool. Our horses are cared for nearby and brought down on weekends and holidays. Experienced riders—or those who simply love horses—are welcome to help care for them.
To reach Paraty, you can take an Uber or alternatively walk the 3 km dirt road to the bus stop or catch a shared van, which many locals use. Paraty is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its colonial architecture, cobbled streets, art galleries, artisan shops, and vibrant cultural festivals. We love attending FLIP, the International Literary Festival, and the Bourbon Festival, which features incredible music from Brazil and beyond. Many bars and restaurants offer live Brazilian music as well.
We also own a boat (seats 7), which you can use with our trusted boatman based at Marina 188, just 3 km from Paraty.
Additional Information
For everyday needs, the village of Barra Grande (3 km from the bus stop toward Rio) has a supermarket, pharmacy, and pet shop. The main hospital in Paraty—Hospital Municipal Hugo Miranda—was inaugurated in 2019 and is located in the Pontal neighborhood.
