What you will love about this home is that it is a cosy cottage, in historic Balmain ideal for relaxing while making the most of the surroundings!
We have two large bedrooms with queen beds, a fully equipped kitchen, as well as a warm and incredibly bright living room thanks to the large windows overlooking the courtyard framed by magnificent native trees. Enjoy the comfort of our beautiful courtyard and balcony on which to relax after a day of exploring.

Balmain is one of the suburbs immediately to the west of Sydney’s CBD but separated from it by the 400 m wide Darling Harbour.
Balmain is a busy peninsula but has no through traffic; it is 5 minutes by car, 15 minutes by ferry or 15 minutes by bus from the city. Few people live in Sydney city proper, the vast majority living in suburbs up to 60 km from the CBD.
Balmain is one of Sydney’s oldest suburbs dating back to the early 1800s and has a strong working class, maritime and industrial history. In the last forty years, it has become gentrified. Balmain has lost some of its original character and most of its industrial sites but gained many restaurants and boutique shops. .
Our home is just minutes from local shops, cafes and parks.
We love the friendly atmosphere of our neighbourhood, with easy access to iconic Sydney ferries and public transport, and above all our friendly neighbours.
The city centre is a 20-minute ferry or bus ride away, so you can enjoy the best of both worlds: peaceful surroundings and vibrant city life.
Walks
The walking trails around the Balmain peninsular afford some wonderful views of the harbour. Google maps shows shared bikeways around Sydney including Balmain so following these works for a walking tour.
Touring around Sydney by ferry
The ferries are a lovely way to see Sydney.
A 15 minute ferry ride to Barangaroo or Circular Quay in the city and Milson's Point on the north shore of the harbour opens up a multitude of more eateries and also the ability to do some sightseeing including the iconic Opera House, the spectacularly located Taronga Zoo (including beautiful views of Sydney city).
Circular Quay (beside the Opera House) is a 15-minute ferry ride and provides easy access to buses, trains and ferries.
There are many harbour side suburbs that are worth exploring such as Woolwich, Greenwich, Darling Harbour, and Cockatoo Island convict quarry and settlement (where public can camp on the island overnight in accommodation built especially to accommodate an overnight glamping style stay).
Circular Quay is the main ferry hub so you can catch other ferries to Taronga Zoo, Manly surf beach, the Parramatta River, Rose Bay and Watson's Bay (where the famous Doyle's fish cafe has views back to the city). The Manly ferry also departs from there. Manly has a harbourside beach and also a short walk away, a surf beach and a multitude of eateries.
Also you can visit Rushcutters Bay, home of the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, host of the famous Sydney to Hobart, ocean race.
You can immerse yourself in the city shops and restaurants or soak up the beautiful Botanic Gardens and harbour, only minutes away from Circular Quay, including the Art Gallery, Museum, Finger Wharfs accomodation and restaurants.
